Good morning! It's still a bit gloomy around our place, but I think that I've captured a few, good takes, between clouds, of this beauty for you all to see.
I started this card by adhering the aqua, plaid, patterned paper near the left edge of the Baja Breeze, cardstock, card face and machine stitching, with ivory-threaded, straight stitches, a frame around its outside edges. The same stitching technique was applied to a slightly smaller piece of red, damask, patterned paper, after it was adhered just inside the stitched edges of the first and overlapping its right side. I, then, wrapped a length of red, gingham ribbon, vertically, around the card face, just left of center and tied it, in a bow, near the top edge.
The flower image was stamped, in Jet Black ink, on a Whisper White die-cut; colored with Real Red, Ruby Red, Baja Breeze, Garden Green, and Wild Wasabi inks and a blender pen; distressed with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks; and adhered, with dimensionals, over all previous layers, in the center of the card face.
The "The heart blooms with Love" sentiment was stamped, in Real Red ink, on a strip of vellum; adhered, over the bottom of the die-cut, against the right edge of the card face; and anchored to its right with ivory-threaded, vertical, straight, machine-stitch lines, whose ends were tied, in knots, to the front of the card face, and to its left with a Pure Poppy button, laced with Baker's Twine.
Finally, I white embossed the butterfly image on vellum; hand cut it out; adhered it, just at its center, to the right of the stamped, flower image and just above the sentiment...
and distressed the edges of everything with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks, to complete the look.
My inspiration for this card came from this gorgeous creation, made by CASE Study's April Muse, Silke Ledlow, for Challenge #36...
and Create For Fun's Color Challenge #25.
Before I run, I want to remind you all that you have until the close of today EST to link up your takes on the gorgeous Challenge #78 at The Play Date Cafe. Cannot wait to make my rounds and get inspired by your creations! And I'm so excited, to tell you all, too, that I was named the PageMaps Scrap That! Sketch Contest Winner for this layout! Eeeek! Absolutely beyond thrilled and floating on cloud nine! Thank you ever so much, Becky and Shelly! My cup runneth over!
Have a wonderful day, everyone!
