PDCC83 - Skipping Stones Design

Welcome to The Play Date Cafe's Challenge #83!  This week we're changing things up a bit and having a blog hop as a special fond farewell to one of PDCC's owners/designers, Sarah Anderson.  So, it's fitting that the Color Splash, which has always been her favorite challenge, be this week's color story.
Our sponsor for this week is Skipping Stones Design, and we're lucky enough to have their Design Team playing along with us, too.  We were also so blessed to get to play with a stamp set of our choosing.  Thank you so much, Skipping Stones!
I chose Stitched Stamps and came up with this beauty for the lady of the hour herself.
I started this card by stamping the flower images, in Basic Black ink, on a piece of Whisper White cardstock; trimming it, along its bottom edge, with a strip of punched, green, polka dot, patterned paper; distressing its edges with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks; and machine stitching, with black threaded, straight stitches around its edges, before adhering it near the top edge of the Basic Black, cardstock, card face.
I then adhered a length of black lace, across the card face, right where the two, prepped papers connect; wrapped a length of black, gingham trim, around the card face, just above it; and did the same for a length of black, gingham ribbon, which was tied in a bow and embellished with a white, felt, star button and a green, vintage-style button, laced with hemp twine bows.
The large flower is actually four stamped layers, two large and two successively smaller.  They were stamped, in Wild Wasabi ink, on Whisper White cardstock; hand cut out; distressed with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks; layered one on top of the other; anchored, through their centers, with a green, rhinestone brad; flanked with stamped, in Basic Black ink, on Wild Wasabi cardstock, and hand cut leaves; and adhered, with dimensionals, to the top right of the embellished bow.
Finally, I white embossed the "I love you" sentiment, in the bottom right corner of the card face itself...
to complete the look.
Now, it's your turn!  You have until the close of the day EST, on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, to link up your takes over at the challenge link above.  But before those creative juices take you to your stamps, please be sure to use that link to also check out all the fabby prize details.  Then, hop on over to the next designer, in the line-up below, to see what beautiful projects they've whipped up this week.

And one last thing.  I just wanted to wish Sarah the best of luck in all her personal and creative endeavours.  Ya'll, she has been a huge asset to The Play Date Cafe team, both structurally and creatively, and has never failed to inspire with her genius combinations of textures, textiles, and color.  Sarah, we will miss you but know, without a doubt, that your creative future will be bright!  HUGE hugs from Kansas City!  With that said, I'd love to leave you with one of my favorite projects of hers.  This sweet, little, packed-to-the-brim, with snippets and treasures and lace and pearls, flag book, which just so happens to have been created for a Color Splash week, is beyond beautiful!
Thanks so much for stopping by, ya'll!  Oh!  And please be sure to leave a comment below for your chance to win a little, extra something-something from The Play Date Cafe's prize menu.  Gotta love prizes!

  20. Jinny, first of all, I am glad you all are okay! I was worried 'bout you yesterday, seeing those messages from you.

Your card for Sarah is nothing less than gorgeous. I think it's very fitting that you chose a stamp set that involves stitching because you use your sewing machine a lot on your cards. :)
