So good to have you visiting for Sketches in Thyme's Challenge #59!
Before I get into my take on the sketch, I'm thrilled to share that our new mavens have been selected! Please help us give them A Warm Welcome! A few of them will even be joining us as soon as next week. Woohoo! Welcome, ladies!
I started this layout by adhering three, different strips of patterned paper, horizontally and haphazardly, near center of my distressed and embossed, cardstock, base page and anchoring them all with white-threaded, straight, machine stitches.
I then adhered my photos, haphazardly, down the left half of the page, before tucking a peach and brown journaling card, which had been distressed with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks, under their bottom right side and wrote upon them, in Soft Suede ink, This was your first year of A Beka Academy Video School, and you just couldn't have loved it any more. Mrs. Chappell was such a fantastic teacher and great at capturing your attention, even when she pretended to eat a WORM! It thrills me beyond words to see you growing and learning and enjoying every step of the way.
The medallion was stamped in Soft Suede and Chocolate Chip inks; embellished up with Peach Fuzz and Paradise, acrylic paints; given a little shine, before the paint dried, with glitter; hand cut out; and distressed with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks, before being adhered just to the right of the top, two pics and over a mini ruler, as well as a die-cut, from textured, Really Rust cardstock, leaf, which had also been distressed with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks. A length of ivory lace; chipboard button, laced with hemp twine bows; and a "My school", die cut title, round out the top right corner of the design.
I then distressed an aqua, "Don't Forget" die cut with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks; dressed up its right edge with an orange, gingham, ribbon tab, as well as an orange button, laced with hemp twine; and journaled upon it, in Soft Suede ink, Second Grade, Sept. 22, 2010.
A couple of punched, from an aqua, bubble, patterned paper, photo corners, adhered with foam tape, complete the look.
Further inspiration for this layout came from ColourQ's Challenge #110...
and The Paper Players' Recipe Challenge #71.
That's all, from here, for today, folks! You have until the close of the month, on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, to link up your takes over in the right hand column of the Sketches in Thyme Blog. Please also be sure to stop by the challenge link above to check out what the rest of the team has been up to, as well as to find out what you're playing for this month. I'm looking forward to visiting each and every one of you! Thanks so much for stopping by!
