SIT #70

Note: If you've come here looking for my PDCC119 - The Twinery post, please scroll down.

It's that time again!  Time for Sketches in Thyme's monthly, two-page sketch, and this time it's specifically for this Challenge #70 beauty.
So, let's just jump right into my interpretation/inspiration.  Shall we?
I started this page by dressing up the bottom of the red, medallion, and aqua, damask, patterned, paper, base pages with strips of brown, stripe, and red, polka dot, patterned papers, both of which were anchored with brown-threaded, straight and zig-zag stitches, as well as an aqua, floral, die cut strip.
I then framed my picture grid with Crumb Cake cardstock and vellum and adhered it above the prepped strips, before turning my attention to the left side.
A red printed, postcard tag, which had been distressed with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks and served as a foundation for my aqua "happy times", "shared memories", and "sunny days", cardstock stickers, was tucked under the left side of the pics, before anchoring the vellum piece with more, brown-threaded, straight stitches.
A program, from my hubby's grandmother's funeral, was then tucked under the picture grid but wasn't adhered in place, so as to allow for easy removal for future inspection.
I then adhered a red, stripe, ribbon strip, just above the aqua, floral, die cut strip and carrying over onto the right side of the layout, and trimmed its left end with a bow, created from the same ribbon, as well as two, handmade by me, pink, polka dot, fabric flowers, topped with Pure Poppy buttons and flanked with ink distressed, Pool Party, cardstock, die cut leaves and hemp twine bows.
Before giving the vellum on the right side of the layout...
the same, machine-stitched treatment as the left, I tucked pink, damask, and red and aqua, floral, journaling cards under its right edge.  The latter was then stamped, in Chocolate Chip ink, with the "the details" label and filled in with just that, Tues., Mar. 30, '10, 10:00 am, Community Church, Topeka, KS.
They were then topped with another, fabric flower, dressed up in the same way as the left side of the layout.  An aqua, "Our Heritage", sticker tab preps the page for the final ingredient.
The "CELEBRATE LIFE" title was created from aqua, glitter alphas and ledger chips and was followed by the stamped, in Jet Black ink, "THIS MOMENT.  THIS STORY.  THIS DAY.  THIS EXPERIENCE.  THIS LIFE." subtitle.
Color inspiration for this sketch came from ColourQ's Challenge #124.
Now, it's your turn!  You have until the close of the month, on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, to link up your takes in the right hand column of the Sketches in Thyme Blog.  But before you're off to getting inky, please be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see what the rest of the Mavens have created with this fantastic sketch, as well as to find out what you're playing for this month.  Thanks, as always, for stopping by, and have a truly terrific Thursday!
