Hang in There

Friday, November 16, 2012

Happy Friday, folks!  Just stopping in real quick, now that we're home from dance and Ezekiel is settled in with school, to share a card I made using some very neglected, but ever so loved, stamps from my stash.  They make me so happy!  I hope they do you, too!
I started this card by piecing together the olive star and rust, floral, patterned papers onto a piece of Kraft cardstock and machine stitching, with olive-threaded, zig-zag stitches, around their combined edges.  I then stamped the "Hang in there" sentiment, in Jet Black ink, vertically, in the bottom left corner of the card face.
A length of twill tape was wrapped, around the card face, between the connection of the two patterned papers; tied, in a bow, near the top edge of the card face; and embellished with an Old Olive ribbon bow, a hemp twine bow, and a turquoise paper blossom.
I then inked a piece of Oatmeal cardstock with Tumbled Glass, Tea Dye, and Antique Linen Distress Inks; stamped its bottom edge, in Old Olive ink, with evergreen branches and its center, in Jet Black ink, with the horizontal branch and bird, both of which were colored with colored pencils and mineral spirits; filled in its top half with die cut, from vellum, clouds, which were dry embossed with polka dots; framed it with a piece of Soft Suede cardstock; machine stitched, with olive-threaded, straight stitches, around its edges; and adhered it, with foam tape, at an angle, just below the embellished bow and to the right of the stamped sentiment.  The squirrel and leaves were stamped, in Jet Black ink, on a separate piece of White cardstock; colored with colored pencils and mineral spirits; hand cut out; and adhered, flush and with foam tape, in their respective locations.  The bird got a touch of glitter, and the squirrel's eyes and nose were given a little shine with Crystal Effects to complete the look.
Inspiration for this card came Little Red Wagon's Challenge #159: Texturize It!, Paper Smooches' SPARKS: Designer Drafts Challenge...
ColourQ's Challenge #163...
and the Moxie Fab World's Tuesday Trigger: Fantasy in Fall, which inspired the woodsy theme and, once again, that scrumptious, fall, color palette.
Thank you so much for stopping by, and have a terrific weekend, y'all!  Only five more days until Thanksgiving.  Woot!

You sent me a card with this sweet little guy on it a while ago, when I was going through heavy 'stuff' with my daughter. I've saved it, because it makes me smile, not only because it's a cute image, but also because it's from you! Wonderful card today, as well. :)
