Family Update

Saturday, June 7, 2014

Morning, friends!  I realized when I was typing up yesterday's post and kept adding a little more about what's been happening in our lives, that I haven't posted many pics here lately.  So, I thought I'd share a little of what we've been up to, beginning with the addition of a new family member.  I was going to wait to get a new hamster for Adina until we moved; but as you read yesterday, that is no longer happening due to a number of circumstances.  Ultimately, we decided that staying put for now was in the best interest of everyone.  Plus, we're just beat to a pulp with the whole process, but thank you so much for all your prayers.  Mine are extremely weak at the moment.  I've been through the wringer this past year and haven't quite made it back yet.  So, we're beyond grateful for every one you've offered up on our behalf.  Anyway, we picked out Oreo; and gosh, she makes my little girl happy.
My kiddos also had a little campout, in the backyard, with Daddy, over Memorial Day weekend.  Fortunately, the rain didn't keep them up.
Did you know that June is National Great Outdoors Month?  One great way you can join in on this month-long celebration of nature, wildlife, and the outdoors is by participating in this year's Great American Backyard Campout.  The official date for this year's campout is June 28th.  That night, tens of thousands of people will spend a night under the stars, in backyards, neighborhoods, local parks, and campgrounds across the country, enjoying the wonders of the great outdoors.  This year, the National Wildlife Federation's Board of Directors and other friends have offered to donate $2 in support of NWF's wildlife conservation work for every person who participates - up to $400,000.  So, join me, and pledge to be a part of the nationwide movement of people camping out for wildlife this year.
Ezekiel went on a three-day trip, to Omaha, NE, with Grandpa and Grandma.  So, my hubby and I had a little fun with our youngest two.
We even took them to Sea Life.  Ezekiel and I visited way back here, but it's geared for the younger crowd, and we knew that Adina really wanted to go.  So, we broke into our pocketbooks (It costs WAY TOO MUCH.) and made a day of it.
So much so, that our little lady got really tired and couldn't stop the tears when anything didn't go her way.  She was back to her happy, old self, however, after a nice, long nap.  Sigh of relief.
And just for fun, I thought I'd throw in a few pics of my little guy.  He's getting so big!  He's weighing in at 15 pounds 9 ounces now and is 24-1/2 inches tall.  He's getting close to sitting without help and the same with rolling from his back to his tummy.  He also loves to spend time on this little blanket, which has made the rounds through all three of my kiddos.  Oh, and you should hear him laugh.  He's ever so ticklish.  LOVE!
On our trips to the city pool, the reflection of the sun off the water has been really hard on his little eyes, and he doesn't seem to be a big fan of hats.  My big kiddo never liked them, either.  So, we picked up these shades, just to give them a try, and I've been pleasantly surprised that he seems to like them so much.
That catches you up on the big things.  We've got a busy week ahead of us next week.  Summer is here!  So, I'm sure I'll have plenty more pics to share soon.  Until then, thanks so much for caring enough to check in on us.  Lots of love!  And have a blessed weekend!
