Paper Sweeties House of Cards Blog Hop

Monday, June 2, 2014

Hi, y'all!  It's time for an end of the term blog hop over at House of Cards, and we have a super fun challenge AND tons of great prize opportunities for those of you who join in the fun.  You should have arrived here from Char Cundy's blog.  If you haven't, please start all the way back at the House of Cards Blog Hop post and follow the list found in the body of the hop post.  Here's how I was inspired by the picture.
I started this card by inking Pumice Stone Distress Ink, through an alphabet stencil, onto the woodgrain, patterned paper and anchoring it to the White, cardstock, card face, with white-threaded, straight, machine stitches.  I then stamped the daisy, in Jet Black ink, in the center of a cross-stitch tag, which was adhered, in the bottom center of the card face, with foam tape, and colored it in with pencils and mineral spirits, before highlighting it, a bit off center, with the die-cut, cork frame.
The tag itself was finished off with a little, gold, foil bicycle...
and topped with a bit of Mint seam binding ribbon, whose center was embellished with a yellow, button blossom, laced with a white chord bow.  A stamped, in Jet Black ink, on White cardstock, and hand-cut banner and "Many Thanks" sentiment complete the look.
And here's your inspiration pic to get you off and running in the right direction.  In case it's not readily apparent, I was inspired to use woodgrain by the chair, and the stencil lettering came from the little containers.  The cork frame also came from those containers.  The basket itself reminded me of one you might find on the front of a bicycle.  Thus, the addition of the little, foil bike on my creation; and finally, I had to add my own single, white daisy.
Now get to hoppin'!  Your next stop is Kristi Schurr's blog.  If you get lost along the way, you can always head back to the original blog hop post; and don't forget to link up a project at the House of Cards blog, after completing the hop, for an extra chance to win a mystery prize from one of our fabulous sponsors, too.  Have fun, and thanks for stopping by!
