Saturday Sentiments

Saturday, March 27, 2010

It's a bit of a melancholy day around here.  Adina's feeling super icky and running a fever, and the rainy, weekend weather has hit us, yet again.  Ezekiel did make three baskets, for his basketball team, this morning, though.  Go, Ezekiel!

Debbie, over at The Shabby Tea Room, has issued us a Spring Inspired - With Stitching challenge this week; and I promised you all, in my Crepe Paper Wreath post, another look at those little, crepe paper roses.  So, without further ado, here's what I came up with.
I started this card by trimming the edge of that gorgeous, coral, rose-patterned vellum with a strip of Cameo Coral cardstock, punched, down its left side, with SU's Sale-A-Bration punch.  I, then, adhered it to the Barely Banana, cardstock, card face and machine stitched a brown-threaded, straight stitch all around the edges.  The right side of the punched cardstock was dressed up with some ivory, lace trimming; and a sheer, coral ribbon was wrapped around the card face and tied in a bow.  I, then, added my little, crepe paper rose to the center of the bow.  I made a yellow one this time using the same tutorial, as the last, found over at the House of Smith's blog; however, this time I used a little, white, Sugar Coating glitter to give it some shine, as if it were dew-kissed, and dressed up its center with a few pearls.
I, then, used my George and Basic Shapes, Cricut cartridge to cut one oval from ivory cardstock and another, slightly larger one from kraft cardstock.  They were adhered one inside the other, and the smaller, ivory one was stamped, in Cameo Coral ink, with the vintage frame, as well as the "For You" sentiment in Close to Cocoa ink.  Before the tag was adhered, with dimensionals, under the edge of the crepe paper rose, I distressed its edges, as well as the edges of the card face itself, with Moonlight White and Chamomile inks.

Enjoy your weekend, everyone!
