Easter Eggstravaganza

Friday, April 2, 2010

We've been busy making lots of eggs this Easter.  First, I made these crocheted doily baskets, according to Michelle's tutorial, by dipping the doilies in fabric stiffener and allowing them to dry over an upside-down bowl to create the form.
Michelle says that you could form them on the inside of a bowl, but I would not recommend it!  It is super difficult to remove, but didn't they turn out so fun?!  One of the little bowls found a home on Adina's dresser to house her bows, buttons, and little things; but for now, the rest of them are displaying Easter eggs... faux paper-mache, Easter eggs on the kitchen table...

and glitter, Easter eggs, in the living room, on our piano.
Ezekiel made the first bunch...
by applying masking tape in little, ripped pieces all over the face of the eggs...
and painting them.
We saw the idea for these on Episode 2 of The DIY Dish, and while he was busy at work, I used all the different colors of my Sugar Coating glitter, by Doodlebug Designs, save the brown and black, and lots of Modge Podge to make the second bunch.
Then, today, we made a few hard-boiled, Easter eggs, some with shrink wraps...

others with white crayon etchings...

and still more simply dyed to Ezekiel's liking...

and Adina discovered the non-washable markers!
This picture was taken after I had tried to get it off her belly AND after I had changed her and, frantically, I might add, went to work trying to get the ink out of her clothes, both to no avail.  What's a Mommy to do?  This girl is a handful!  Sigh...
