Tuesday Trigger: Frills & Thrills

Monday, May 17, 2010

As promised, in my A Whirlwind of a Weekend post, I've got Moxie Fab World's Tuesday Trigger: Frills & Thrills, for you all, today.
Isn't that photograph just scrumptious?!  Here's what I came up with, also, keeping Off the Wall Craftiness' Challenge #7: Birds in mind.

I started this card by trimming the left edge of a piece of coral-colored, rose, vellum with a strip of Cheery Flowers, patterned paper.  I, then, trimmed the left edge of the Cheery Flowers, patterned paper with a strip of Tempting Turquoise cardstock, punched down its left side.  A white-threaded, straight stitch was machine stitched on either side of the connections; before the resulting card piece was adhered to the white, cardstock, card face.  I, then, painted a flower-shaped piece of chipboard with acrylic paints and threw on a layer of white glitter, before it had time to dry.  While it was drying, I cut the center from a white, paper doily and fan-folded its edges into a flower, which was adhered in the center of the, now, dry, chipboard flower, in the bottom, right corner of the card face.  I, then, embellished the center of the doily with a few, peach, rose buds...

wrapped two, sheer, aqua and coral ribbons around the card face and tied them in a bow; and stamped the bird and "a special note of thanks" sentiment, in Cameo Coral and Close to Cocoa inks, on white cardstock.  The stamped images were hand cut out, and the sentiment banner, as well as the card, face edges, were distressed with Tattered Rose and Chai, distress inks.  Both images were adhered to the card face with dimensionals.  Finally, I embellished the center of the ribbon bow with an aqua button, laced with white string, and the bird's eye, as well as the punched strip of Tempting Turquoise cardstock, with gemstones.

I just love how that floral, patterned, paper strip ties both the aqua and turquoise and the coral and peach colors together perfectly!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Oh!  And I almost forgot to mention that another, pretty, little gem of mine was up on the Cards blog last Friday.  Yea!
