Embellish Babies Color Challenge & Sketchy Thursdays

Wednesday, June 23, 2010

We had so much fun, at our summer, library program, this morning.  It was an "Under the Sea" adventure, so Adina had a blast playing in the water tables, and Ezekiel enjoyed creating an underwater scene with melted crayons and watercolor resist.
Look at that toothless grin!  Too cute!  They, also, both picked out an armload of books, to keep them busy over the next week (Although, Ezekiel had one of his chapter books finished by lunch!  He's a quick reader, just like his Daddy.), and loved visiting with Miss Debbie, our librarian.  She's super great at being interested in all the kiddos' neverending stories and adventures and about asking just the right questions to keep them thinking and dreaming.

Like I said, in my earlier post, I've, also, got Embellish Magazine's Babies Color Challenge, for you all, today.
Love this... theme, color scheme, and all!  Here's what I came up with.
I started this card by machine stitching a peach-threaded, straight stitch around the outside edges of a piece of yellow, polka dot, glitter paper and adhering it to the Certainly Celery, cardstock, card face.  I, then, added a punched strip of Barely Banana cardstock; a peach ribbon, tied in a bow and embellished with a peach button, laced with hemp twine; and a couple of green, pearlized stickpins.
The bunny image was stamped, in Basic Brown ink, on ivory cardstock; water colored it in shades of Basic Brown, Barely Banana, and Blush Blossom; distressed with Chamomile & Chai inks; framed with Certainly Celery cardstock; and adhered, with dimensionals, slightly, right of center, next to the embellished bow.

Then, while I had all these fun goodies out on my craft table, I put together a page for Adina's scrapbook, using Sketchy Thursdays latest sketch as inspiration.
Here's my take.
I started this layout by adhering a piece of Barely Banana cardstock in the top center of the white, cardstock page and machine stitching a peach-threaded, straight stitch around its outside edges.  I, then, layered more of that gorgeous, yellow, polka dot, glitter paper across the bottom of the layout; wrapped more, peach ribbon between the paper connections, tied it in a bow and embellished it with a peach button, laced with white string, as well as a couple, green, pearlized stickpins; and adhered a row of fun, green, rocking horse trim just below it.
After adhering the priceless photographs, of my baby girl, taking a few of her first steps, I used puffy, alpha stickers to create the "BabY legS" title.
The 11.26.09 date tab and a little distressing complete the look.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog, and have a wonderful day!
