Reader's Choice Color Inspiration No. 4

Thursday, June 24, 2010

I've got a couple of projects, for you all, today.  Both of them were inspired by the yummy color combo I found in Kristina's Reader's Choice Color Inspiration No. 4.
Let's start with a card whose design comes from Waltzingmouse's Sketch Challenge #3.
Here's what I came up with.
I started this card by machine stitching a red-threaded, straight stitch around the edges of the light blue and red, striped, patterned paper.  I, then, layered a strip of red and orange, polka dot, patterned paper, trimmed, down its left side, with a punched strip of Pumpkin Pie cardstock, down its right side and machine stitched a red-threaded, zig-zag stitch between the punched cardstock and polka dot, patterned paper, before adhering the prepped piece to the Ballet Blue, cardstock, card face.  I, then, cut an oval, through all front cover layers, in the bottom, right corner and distressed it with Tea Dye ink.
The "{Just had to write to say} thank you" sentiment was, then, clear embossed on the inside back cover of the card, peeking through the cut oval.
Finally, I wrapped a So Saffron, grosgrain ribbon, vertically, around the card face, looping it through both the top and bottom edges of the cut oval; tied the top, ribbon loop in a bow; and embellished it with a Pure Poppy button, laced with white string.

I, also, created a layout, inspired by the above color inspiration, using Pencil Lines' Sketch 191, provided by Anna Bowkis.
Love this design!  Here's my take.
I started this layout by adhering the light blue, bright blue, and yellow, plaid, patterned paper in the center of the "snips and snails and puppy dot tails, that's what little boys are made of", yellow and blue, patterned paper.  I wish that I could tell you all who made these papers.  I cannot remember, for the life of me; but I can tell you that they came in a scrapbook kit, along with the alpha, "KiNDErgArteN" stickers, in the title, and were purchased at Hobby Lobby.  Anyway, I, then, adhered a strip of red and orange, polka dot, patterned paper, trimmed, down its right side, with a punched strip of Ruby Red cardstock, down the right side of the page, slightly, overlapping the plaid paper.  The hand cut, Pumpkin Pie, cardstock circle; photographs; and So Saffron, grosgrain, ribbon-laced, blue, polka dot, die-cut tag came next, in that order.  The die-cut tag holds the partial, "100" title, which was made from foam Thickers, and was adhered with dimensionals.  The partial "dAYS" title was made from ticket, alpha stickers and tucked under the bottom edge of the ribbon-laced, die-cut tag.  I, then, added more foam Thickers for the partial, "of" title and completed the title with light blue, bright blue, and yellow, "KiNDErgArteN", alpha stickers.
After the photos were adhered, I embellished with a star, die-cut strip next to the polka dot, patterned paper; an orange, "FROM THE HEART", ticket die-cut above the title; a red, photo tab, decked out with an orange, star, circle die-cut, to the left of the far left photograph; a yellow, polka dot, Jan. 23, 2009, date tab to the right of the far right photograph; and a red-framed, journal box, which reads, You read "Miss Bindergarten Celebrates the 100th Day of Kindergarten" like 100 times., below the far right photograph.
Well, I'm hearing my baby girl beginning to stir, from her sleep, again today.  Poor thing has to keep getting woke up, from her afternoon nap, for Ezekiel's swimming lesson.  Fortunately, she knows how to sleep in!  Anyway, it's time to get breakfast.  We've, also, got some gardening to do, this morning, while it's still cool(er).  Thanks for stopping by, and have a fantastic day!
