2S4Y Sketch 55 and Wee Memories Red, White, and Blue Color Challenge

Friday, July 2, 2010

It's been one of those days.  One of those days, when you wake up tired, because your thoughtful hubby bought you a decaf, vanilla latte, last night, on his trip to Borders, which turned out not to be decaf after all.  One of those days, when your husband locks you and your kiddos out of the house, without your cell phone, and goes back to work, completely, oblivious to what he's done.  One of those days, when your baby girl, accidentally, dumps blowing bubbles on her head and, immediately, starts rubbing her eyes.  One of those days, when you, finally, have to admit that your once gorgeous flowers have become the neighborhood, alley cat's litter box.  It's been one of THOSE days.  Thank goodness it's Friday!

Today, I've combined 2 Sketches 4 You Sketch 55...
with Wee Memories' Red, White, and Blue Color Challenge to bring you this beauty.
I started this card by stamping the star images, in Brocade Blue and Real Red inks, on white cardstock; distressing its edges with Chamomile and Chai inks; and adhering it to a piece of kraft cardstock.  I, then, ran a red-threaded, straight, machine stitch, in a rectangle, around the kraft cardstock, between the outside edges of it and the stamped cardstock.  A gorgeous, red, gingham, ruffle trim was, then, wrapped around the center of the prepped cardstock, horizontally.  The same was done with a length of hemp twine, twice, but it was tied in a bow near the left edge; before all layers were adhered, with dimensionals, to the Brocade Blue, cardstock, card face.
I, then, cut four, 1-1/4" squares of apple, patterned paper; white embossed one of them, in the bottom center, with the "Celebrate" sentiment; and adhered all four, with dimensionals, in a grid-like, square pattern, before embellishing the top left one with a Pure Poppy button, laced with hemp twine.
Have a happy and safe 4th of July weekend!
