CCG #152 & Pencil Lines Sketch 194

Wednesday, July 28, 2010

I just had to throw together a layout, to show off Color Combos Galore's Inspiration Board #152, before we took off on vacation.  It was just too delicious to pass up!
I combined it with Pencil Lines' Sketch 194...
and came up with this.
I started this layout by hand cutting out the textured and embossed, ivory cardstock; sanding its edges to get the embossed portions to stand out a bit more; distressing its edges with Tea Dye ink; machine stitching a length of ruffled, pink tulle to the backside of its straight edge; and adhering it to the cherry, glitter paper.  I, then, dressed it up, below, with a strip of punched, along its bottom edge, and distressed, with Tea Dye ink, Pretty in Pink cardstock, which had, also, been embellished, across its top edge, with paper doilies.  A length of Certainly Celery ribbon covers the connection, between the two, prepped cardstocks, seamlessly.  The "ROCKING" sentiment was Cricut-cut, from Old Olive cardstock, and adhered in the lower right corner of the prepped, Pretty in Pink cardstock.
After adhering pictures, I added a Cricut-cut, from Old Olive cardstock, journal box, which reads, You just love to rock whether it be with Mommy in the big chair or by yourself, and a hand-made, fabric, box flower.
It was sewn together from lots of leftover, fabric scraps; a little, pink tulle; and a bright pink button and embellished with a gorgeous gem, which I found, attached to a rusty, old, bobbie pin, in our church, parking lot.  I just new that it would make the perfect embellishment!
A few purchased, pink and green, gemstone flowers; random, clear gemstones...
a hand-written, in the bottom right corner, Oct. 17, 2009 date; and a Cricut-cut, from Certainly Celery cardstock, flourish, adhered, with dimesionals, above the fabric, box flower, complete the look.

All that tulle reminded me of Samster Mommy's TuTu Drive.
Natasha is collecting tutus for the Princess Alexa Foundation, who, then, passes them out to seriously ill kiddos for a little fun and make-believe.  I soooo wanted to get one made, before we left on vacation, but it just didn't get done.  I hate that!  She's collecting through the end of this month, though, so if you get a chance, run to the Tutu Drive link above for all the details, and thanks!  Have a great day!
