Got Sketch? Sketch 101 & CAS-tastic Wednesday Kraft-y Creations

Tuesday, July 13, 2010

Today, I've got a combined challenge for you all.  I put Got Sketch?'s Sketch 101...
with CAS-tastic Wednesdays' Kraft-y Creations Challenge and came up with this birthday card for my little sister, who'll be celebrating her special day this coming Friday.
I started this card by cutting six, 1-1/2", patterned, paper squares; rounding the outside corners of the four outside squares; and adhering them in a grid-like pattern to the left side of the Taken With Teal, cardstock, card face, which had its top and bottom left-side corners rounded.  I, then, stamped the "happy BIRTHDAY" sentiment, in Moonlight White ink, on kraft cardstock, which had its upper left corner rounded (I just LOVE the way Moonlight White ink looks on kraft!  Gorgeous!); trimmed it, across its bottom edge and overhanging its left side, with a strip of punched, across its bottom edge, pink, heart, patterned paper; machine stitched pink-threaded, zig-zag stitches between the connections; and adhered it, between the top two rows of patterned, paper squares, to the card face.  Finally, I made a sweet, fabric flower, in the same way I did here...
hand stitched in its yellow button center with pink, embroidery floss; and adhered it to the card face, just left of center, below the stamped and trimmed sentiment.
Hope your birthday is the best one yet, Jana!  And thanks for visiting, everyone!

What a gorgeous flower, you always offer up some amazing flowers. I really like how you've taken kraft from a background to a focal point like this, what a great card!
