Happy Birthday, Ezekiel!

Wednesday, July 7, 2010

Seven years ago, today, a beautiful, baby boy came into our lives.  He was super cute, tiny, wet and cried a lot, but we loved him all the more.  His name was Ezekiel James, and he's not a baby anymore.  Now, he's handsome, ornery, smart, full of life, anxious to please, modest, and a precious gift from God.
I combined Everything But the Kitchen Sink's Challenge 18: Aluminum Foil...
with 2 Sketches 4 You's Sketch Challenge 56 for his birthday card.
Here's what I came up with.
I started his card by punching, across the top, and layering foil strips over the bottom of a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  I, then, stamped the sun, in Summer Sun ink, in and hanging over the edge of the upper right corner, and coiled a length of Summer Sun cardstock for its center.  The fish was stamped, in Pumpkin Pie ink, on white cardstock; hand cut out; and adhered, with dimensionals, over the bottom layer of foil.  He was given a few, aqua and green, Rain Dot bubbles, as well.  The inner tube was stamped, in Green Gable ink, on Green Gable cardstock; hand cut out; embellished with aqua Rain Dots; and adhered, floating on top of my foil waves, with the second wave overlapping it slightly.  Finally, I brushed the edges in Azurite ink and hand cut a cloud from aqua cardstock, which was, then, adhered with dimensionals.  My picture piece was, then, framed with a piece of aqua cardstock and adhered to the Green Gable, cardstock, card face.  The "HAPPY BIRTHDAY", rubon sentiments further frame the image to complete the look.
Originally, that was how I left it, but it was just missing that element of softness.  So, I went back and wrapped a length of white string around the bottom half of the card face, under the framed picture, three times, and tied it in a bow, just to the right of the main picture.  Much better.  Wink!
He's got an overnight party, with some of his buddies, coming up this Friday night, but he had to open a few of his gifts today.
He's just loving the Magic Tree House series, right now!  Unfortunately, he breezes through one of them in less than an hour.
Happy birthday, handsome! We are so honored to call you our own.
