MFW: LO Inpsiration Challenge

Sunday, July 18, 2010

Yesterday was a super, crazy day!  We woke up to a kitchen, sink faucet that wasn't working, so, thinking that something was just in the line, my husband took everything apart to find nothing at all.  We decided to replace the faucet, which we had purchased less than a year ago, and now, it works like a charm.  Unfortunately, it was a super long process; but fortunately, it had a warranty.  Then, BJ went to fix a drainage pipe in our backyard and discovered that he had ordered the wrong part.  Oh, the joys of home ownership!  All that's to say that we had to leave everything hanging for a trip, to my in-laws, to meet this gentleman.
He's my sister-in-law's new boyfriend and seems to be worthy of her affection.  It was nice meeting you, Johan; and soooo good to see you, again, Hannah!

We didn't get home until super late and slept waaay past time for church, completely, on accident.  So, now, we're just relaxing, for the first time in what seems like weeks, until lunch and, maybe, a much-needed nap.  It will be short lived, however, because it's time to mow the yard; the tomatoes and potatoes, in our vegetable garden, need harvesting; the clothes dryer will soon be ringing out its completion; and the kiddos, always, need something.

I do have a card, for you all, today, inspired by Moxie Fab World's Finding Inspiration in a Layout Challenge, specifically, this layout by Jen Jockisch.
I was, completely, drawn to the way she combined all those yummy, warm, fall colors with pops of cool, white and aqua.  I, also, loved her circle layering, and doesn't her dark stitching just pop off the page?!  The complete package inspired this card from me.
I started this card by piecing together all those fabulous, patterned papers; machine stitching a brown-threaded, straight stitch around their edges and zig-zag stitches between the connections of the top, two, patterned papers; and adhering it to the aqua, cardstock, card face.  I, then, wrapped a sheer, ivory ribbon around the card face, between the bottom, two, patterned, paper connections; tied it in a bow to the left side of the card face; and embellished its center with a brown button, laced with hemp twine.
The "THANK you" sentiment was stamped, in Azurite ink, on a white, cardstock circle; dressed up, just below, with a stamped, in Chocolate Chip ink, heart; distressed with Chamomile and Chai inks; embellished, along its bottom right edge, with a row of pearls; and adhered, with dimensionals, in the center of a, slightly, larger, distressed, with Chamomile and Chai inks, white, cardstock circle, which was, then, adhered, over the existing ribbon and patterned papers, in the center of the card face.
Until tomorrow, I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!
