The Color Room #22

Thursday, September 9, 2010

It's a gloomy day in our neck of the woods.  Besides the weather being overcast and threatening more rain, I just found out that two of my Etsy purchases were delivered to an old, apartment address (We haven't lived there for over five years, now!), thanks to paypal, voluntarily, changing our main address, after our repeated times of correcting it!  Ugh!  My hubby called and fixed the issue with paypal, but my purchases, through Etsy, are said to have been delivered, over the last week, via delivery confirmation.  Bummer!  Not sure what to do now.  We did contact the apartment complex, but they're leaving it up to the tenants to respond.  I've been waiting on one of those purchases for a month!  Craziness!

Anyway, I do have my take on The Color Room's Palette #22, for you all, today.
I turned it into a two-pager and came up with this.
I started this layout by adhering the burgundy, polka dot, pattern paper to the Brocade Blue, cardstock pages and machine stitching black-threaded, straight stitches around its edges.  I, then, trimmed the kraft and black, checkered, patterned paper, on the left side of the layout, with a punched strip of black, embossed cardstock, which had been sanded for a more distressed look, and adhered it to the cardstock base; adhered the larger piece of kraft and black, checkered, patterned paper to the right side of the layout; and machine stitched black-threaded, zig-zag stitches down both checkered, patterned papers' right and left sides.  A little flourish stamping, in Basic Black ink...
and a couple Jumbo Eyelets, laced with hemp twine, tied in a knot, completes the uniformity of the layout.
The left side boasts the partial, "turning" title, which was made from black, puffy Thickers, as well as the completed, chipboard, "6" title, which was painted with acrylic paint; spritzed, several times over, with Candy Apple Red Glimmer Mist; embellished with lots of ribbons and twine, from my stash, tied in knots; and adhered with dimensionals.
The Crumb Cake, journal strips read, You are just so full of life, energy, adventure, and love.  You were so excited to be turning 6 and were smiling so much, all day, that you would've thought this was your big party.
The only differences on the right side of the layout are the little, hand-written, 7.07.09 date, in the bottom left corner, and the stamped, in Basic Black ink, on Crumb Cake cardstock, and framed, with Basic Black cardstock, "you make my life a beautiful thing" subtitle.
Here's hoping that things get themselves worked out soon and that the sun is shining where you are :)!
