Sketchy Thursdays & TCR #33

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

Good morning!  I have a soft and sweet layout, for you all, today.
I started, this layout, by adhering a punched, down its right side, pink, vintage-print, patterned paper near the top right corner of the love notes, patterned, paper base...
layering lots of strips of a variety of patterned papers, haphazardly, just left of that print; and anchoring them with pink-threaded, straight and zig-zag, machine stitches.
I, then, wrapped a length of hemp twine, vertically, around the layout, three times over, before lacing it with a stamped, in Old Olive ink, on a die-cut tag, "tiny little thing, great big blessing" subtitle; tying it in a bow; and dressing it up with a silk, flower embellishment.
After adhering the sonogram pictures, I embellished them with a few staples; a punched, from a pink, floral, patterned paper, photo corner; and a "stories", sticker tab.
My title was created by hand cutting the heart from Crumb Cake cardstock; stamping the text in Crumb Cake ink; distressing its edges with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks; white embossing, in its center, over the text, the "it's a girl" title; adhering it near the top of my photographs; and anchoring it with a few, random, pink-threaded, hand stitches.
Finally, I used the left side of the layout to journal, We tried and tried to prepare your brother for the fact that you may not be a girl, but he insisted that you were, because he prayed for you to be.  When the technician announced that you were, he looked at me and said, "See.  I told you, Mom."  It was at that moment that I laughed and cried.  I didn't know, until then, how much I wanted you to be one.
This page was inspired by, not only, Sketchy Thursdays' current sketch...
and The Color Room's Palette #33: {Her Room}...
but also my January, Jenni Bowlin kit, which arrived, in the mail, last week.  Check it out!
