Embellish Masculine Color Trends Challenge

Saturday, March 26, 2011

Well, hello there!  What a busy day it has been!  I'm hoping to have pictures of everything we've already done this weekend up, tomorrow, before we begin our Wplus9 Design April Release; but for now, I have a guy, birthday card, for you all, to celebrate today being my father-in-law's birthday.
I started this card by piecing together the two, center, patterned papers; trimming them down their left side with a punched strip of Real Red cardstock; distressing their edges with a cutter tool and their connections with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks; and machine stitching, with white-threaded, straight stitches, a frame around their edges and to either side of their connections, before adhering the prepped piece to the stamped, in woodgrain, with VersaMark ink, Basic Grey, cardstock, card face.
I, then, wrapped an Old Olive, grosgrain ribbon, vertically, around the card face, between the left, patterned paper and trimmed, cardstock edge and tied it, in a knot, near the top left corner of the card face.  The sentiment tag was made by stamping the tag frame, on a piece of Whisper White cardstock, in Real Red ink and its center splash in Marina Mist ink.  It was, then, hand cut out; distressed around its edges with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks; stamped, in Old Olive ink, with the partial "hope your day is" title; silver embossed with the completed, "Awesome" title; and adhered, over all layers, to the left edge of the card face, just below horizontal center, with dimensionals.
A paper clip and a few staples, in the top and bottom, right-side corners of the card face, anchor the elements...
and complete the look.
My inspiration for this card came from Embellish's Masculine Color Trends Challenge.
Before I'm off to a hopefully less busy evening, I'm thrilled to tell you all that this card was featured in the CARDS: 10 Buttons or More gallery, on CREATE:, this week.  Woohoo!  Thanks ever so much, Paige!  And thanks, to you all, for stopping by!  I truly treasure your visits and sweet words of encouragement.
