Hero Arts Sketch Contest & A Little Giveaway

Thursday, April 28, 2011

So remember my telling ya'll, this morning, in my PDCC79 - Hero Arts post, that for the Hero Arts' sponsorship, over at The Play Date Cafe, they gave each of us designers a choice of a stamp set (I picked A Kiss From the Sun.  Yummy!) and sent us each a sweet, little surprise (Mine was the Striped Flower rubber cling stamp.)?  Well, I decided to put them both to use with one of the Hero Arts April Sketches.  Here's what I came up with.
I started this card by making that pretty, little, fabric, flower pin, in the same way that I did all the way back here with Ever After from Wplus9, using the Hero Arts' Fabric Flowers Live Forever tutorial; hand stitched the yellow button in its center; and added a couple of stamped, in Jet Black ink, on olive green felt, and hand-cut leaves, as well as a fabric pin to the back, with Fabri-Fix.
I, then, set it aside to dry emboss the eyelet flowers on a piece of Rose Red cardstock; adhered it to a piece of textured, Whisper White cardstock; and machine stitched, around its edges, with yellow-threaded, zig-zag stitches, before adhering it to the Ballet Blue, cardstock, card face.  The suns were stamped, in Summer Sun ink, on a strip of Daffodil Delight cardstock; trimmed, to the left, with a punched strip of Whisper White cardstock; glittered; adhered, vertically, near the right edge of the card face; and anchored with yellow-threaded, straight, machine stitches.
Finally, I stamped the "a kiss from the sun to you" sentiment, in Ballet Blue ink, on a strip of Whisper White cardstock; adhered it, horizontally, near the bottom of the card face; anchored it with yellow-threaded, straight, machine stitches...
and pinned the previously made, fabric flower, right through the card face, over the glittered, sunny strip, to complete the look.
And, just for fun, how about another, sweet, little, fabric, flower pin in The Play Date Cafe's current color story colors?
The card creation/pin, above, will soon be making its way to a dear friend of mine, but I'd LOVE to give one of my faithful followers the PDCC take.  If you're interested, just leave me a comment, in this post, telling me what you love most about my blog.  Then, I'll pick a random winner next Friday, May 6, 2011.  Sound good?  I hope so!  Good luck!  And as always, thank you so much for stopping by!

I love those fabric pins!!!! They look gorgeous on your card. I love your blog for two reasons. 1) because you share a bit of yourself with everyone through stories and pictures and 2) because your work is gorgeous, original and you take great pictures! Love working with such a talented gal. :)

Jinny, I love the card and the glittery sun...also love the dry embossing (did you do that by hand or is it a folder?). I think what I love most about your blog is the number of photos you include in each post...you show close-ups of each part of your cards and layouts and that is SO helpful! (Thanks for a chance to win that pretty flower pin, too!)
