Sketchy Thursdays & TCR #54

Tuesday, April 19, 2011

Oh, my gracious!  I cannot believe how cold the weather has turned in our neck of the woods.  I stepped outside, to go to Take Time Out, at church, this morning, and wanted to head right back indoors.  I even turned the heater back on.  With so many gorgeous days in a row, I was kinda getting used to spring and was inspired by such, with all the florals, in the layout I have, for you all, today.
I started this layout by trimming the outside edges of the yellow, floral, patterned paper with strips of bright pink, floral, patterned paper; machine stitching white-threaded, zig-zag stitches between the two; and anchoring my row of pictures between an orange, floral die-cut and punched strips of Pink Pirouette and textured, Whisper White cardstock, all of which were anchored with white-threaded, straight stitches, running over onto the layout itself.
I, then, adhered my white, foam, "plumb tuckered out", Thicker title, carrying over onto the second page...
before focusing my attention on embellishing the first...
with a "sweet dreams", die-cut subtitle, framed with a scalloped, circle die-cut; a strip of artisan tape; little, die-cut and felt flowers, dressed up with blossom buttons, laced with white string bows; a couple more die-cut, floral embellishments; paper roses; and a speckling of clear gemstones.
The right side of the layout had an extra 8" square sheet of orange, polka dot, patterned paper tucked in behind all the punched and die-cut strips and photos and was machine stitched, with white-threaded, zig-zag stitches, around its edges.
It also has a cluster of flowers, angled opposite the left side, including more die-cut flowers; button blossoms, laced with white string bows; a felt flower; paper roses; and a smattering of clear gemstones.
And finally, just to the right of the title, I stamped, in Pink Passion ink, April, May, and June circles, filling in the first with the '10 year and embellishing them all with a few more paper roses and clear gemstones, to complete the look.
My inspiration for this piece came from Sketchy Thursdays' current sketch...
and The Color Room's Palette #54: {Sun Room}.
Well, we've got lots of assignments to catch up on with having been away from home this morning, so I'd better run.  But please don't forget that you have until the close of tonight EST to link up your takes on the current Challenge #77 at The Play Date Cafe.  Until tomorrow, have a wonderfully warm :) day!
