PageMaps 5th Anniversary Celebration & TCR #59

Monday, May 23, 2011

I'm finally back, from scrapbook club with the girls and as promised in my previous, Weekend Snapshots post, with a little, Monday (It's still here!  LOL!), papercrafty inspiration.
I started this layout by adhering the strips of patterned papers, as well as the punched strips of Barely Banana cardstock, to the textured, Barely Banana, cardstock pages and machine stitching, with brown-threaded, straight stitches, around their edges and, with brown-threaded, zig-zag stitches, between the top, two, patterned papers.
I then adhered a large, vellum circle over both pages; created the "home at last" title with aqua alphas, anchoring them with messy, brown-threaded, straight stitches; machine stitched around its edges, up to either side of the title, with brown-threaded, straight stitches; and journaled, After BJ had been gone on a 5 day business trip to San Diego, CA, it didn't take a fancy dinner or something special planned to celebrate his homecoming.  All we wanted to do was snuggle in each other's arms and never let go.  October 18, 2009, before adhering a length of brown trim, just above the punched, cardstock strips.
After positioning pictures, on the left side of the layout...
I dressed up the far left photograph with an ivory, crochet doily; a vintage, patterned, paper flower; and a couple of color-coordinating, resin flowers.
Then, the right side of the layout...
got a canvas, banner treatment to complete the look.  I cross-stitched the "LOVE {heart}" subtitle in aqua, embroidery floss and laced the entire thing on a length of hemp twine, tied in knots at either end.
My inspiration for this layout came from this December 2009 PageMap in honor of PageMaps' 5th Anniversary Celebration...
and The Color Room's Palette #59: {Family Room}.
Thanks again for peeking in, and as I've just been watching more news of the devastation in Joplin, Missouri, please keep these precious people and their friends and families in your continual thoughts and prayers.  It is beyond what even this all too familiar to tornadoes, Kansas girl can grasp, and just brings tears to my eyes with each new picture and/or story unveiled.
