PageMaps 5th Anniversary Celebration & DYSU #20

Tuesday, May 24, 2011

Well, good afternoon, ya'll!  I hope you're all enjoying your Tuesday.  Ours is getting darker and darker with each passing minute.  The wind has picked up.  The thunder is rolling.  My dogs are freaking out again, and I'm thinking we may be in for a bit of a storm.  Thank you, Jesus, for a comfortable, dry home to keep us safe, and please be with those who aren't so fortunate.  So, I've got a sweet, little, anniversary card, for my parents, to share with you all, today.
I started this card by adhering a piece of turquoise, speckled, patterned paper to a slightly larger piece of Whisper White cardstock and machine stitching, with white-threaded, zig-zag stitches, around its edges.  I then adhered a piece of turquoise, heart, patterned paper, which had been trimmed down its left side with a piece of punched, Whisper White cardstock, in its center; machine stitched, with white-threaded, straight stitches, around its edges; and did the same for a hand-cut, from a green, gingham, patterned, paper heart, before adhering the entire, prepped piece to the Certainly Celery, cardstock, card face.
A length of white, seam binding ribbon was wrapped, vertically, around the card face, just left of the heart; tied, in a dressy bow, just above horizontal center; and embellished with a green button, laced with a Baker's Twine bow, as well as a white embossed, on a piece of hand-cut vellum, "always & forever" sentiment.
The stamp was stamped, in Certainly Celery ink, on a piece of Whisper White cardstock; filled in with the stamped, in Baja Breeze ink, "LOVE"; hand cut out; and stamped again, in Basic Gray ink, with the June 02 postmark, before being distressed with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks and further embellished with a small, green, flower gemstone.
Finally, the postmark was stamped again, in Basic Gray ink, on the bottom portion of the heart, before adhering the prepped stamp, with dimensionals, over it, to complete the look.
My inspiration for this card came from this June 2010 CardMap in honor of PageMap's 5th Anniversary Celebration...
and DYSU's Challenge #20.  It's my first time playing along over there, and this color story had me all a-swooning.  Thanks for introducing me to it, Janna!
Okay, ya'll!  That's it, from me, for today, but please remember that you have until the close of tonight EST to link up your takes on The Play Date Cafe's current Challenge #82, and have a terrific Tuesday!
