SIT Open Challenge

Note: If you've come here looking for my PDCC83 - Skipping Stones Design post, please scroll down.

It's Open Challenge week at Sketches in Thyme!
Just link up a new creation you've made, using any sketch.  Try out a sketch from a favorite blog or create your own. As long as you use a sketch, you can enter the challenge.  I've used Inspired Blueprints' Sketch #72...
and here's what I came up with.
I started this layout by adhering the gray, ledger, patterned paper to the distressed, pink, butterfly cardstock; machine stitching, with pink-threaded, straight stitches, around its edges; and dressing it up, about 1-1/2" from the base, with a strip of green, polka dot, patterned paper, anchored with pink-threaded, straight, machine stitches, and a punched strip of black, chain link, patterned paper.
After adhering pictures, I ran a length of gray, grid ribbon, across the layout, right above the punched, patterned, paper strip; tied it in a bow; and embellished it with a pink, vintage-style button, laced with Charcoal twine bows and a green, stick pin.
The "Our family" title was created with pink alphas, anchored with pink-threaded, messy, straight stitches, tied off to either side, and black, foam Thickers.
I then hand-cut a larger heart from a black, polka dot, patterned paper; anchored it, in the top left corner of the gray, ledger, patterned paper, with pink-threaded, straight, machine stitches; and used it as a base for my "NOTE: SEALED WITH A KISS" die-cut, which served as the foundation for the 2010, alpha, sticker date.
After anchoring the date with a few, more, messy, pink-threaded, straight stitches, I completed the look with a trio of black, vellum butterflies.
Further inspiration for this layout came from Color Combos Galore's Inspiration Board #193.
Okay, now it's your turn.  You have until the close of the month, on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, to link up your takes, on either of this month's sketches or to show us your own, to be eligible for the fabulous, prize package from Ready... Set... CROP! and/or to become one of our featured Top Three designers.  Cannot wait to see what you all bring to the table!  Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a fantastic day!
