Wplus9 June Release Sneak Peek: Day 1

Friday, May 27, 2011

Welcome to Wplus9 Design's June Release Sneak Peek: Day 1!  Woohoo!  We're back, and Dawn has cooked up a fantastic, Pile It On, stamp set all about birthdays and celebrations and sweet treats, as well as a fun, new, pendant/ice cream, coordinating die, for you all, this month!  So, without further ado, please check out my first, inspired creations!
I started this card by stamping the cones, in Crumb Cake ink, along the bottom edge of a piece of Whisper White cardstock and topping them with with ice cream, from right to left, in Barely Banana, Certainly Celery and Chocolate Chip (Those sprinkles are a stamp, too!), Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip, and Baja Breeze and White inks.
The center cone was topped with a stamped, in Real Red and Chocolate Chip inks, cherry, which was also given a little shine with Crystal Effects.
I, then, trimmed the top of the piece with a punched strip of Barely Banana cardstock and the bottom with a punched strip of Pretty in Pink cardstock and turquoise, speckled, patterned paper; machine stitched, with white-threaded, straight stitches, across the stamped portion's top and bottom edges, just for a little more texture; and adhered the entire thing near the top of the Crumb Cake, cardstock, card face.  A length of yellow twill tape, tied, in a knot, just left of center...
and the stamped, in White ink, "What's the scoop?" sentiment...
complete the look.
And I just had to sneak in these super fun, little barrettes, that I made for my daughter, with the coordinating die.  Every morning, now, she wakes up and says she wants her ice cream cones.  I really tried to get a picture of her wearing one, but between the stormy weather (meaning lack of good lighting) we've been having and her being a wiggly, two-year-old, I just haven't had any luck.  I promise to try to sneak one in before the end of our release week, though.
They're super simple, just two die-cut, from felt, cones for each clip.  I then sewed a few, seed bead sprinkles onto the top cone and stitched them together with embroidery floss, leaving the top edge open temporarily to stuff them with a little fiber-fill.  After closing it off with stitches, I topped it with a red, cherry button and glued it to a hair clip, which had been covered in a color-coordinating ribbon.
Okay, ya'll, that's all, from me, for today, but the rest of the team has lots of goodies in store; so, be sure to stop on by.  Plus, please leave a little extra love for our two, new, well-known designers, Cristina Kowalczyk and Jean Martin.  So excited to have your talent and expertise on the team, ladies!  And thanks ever so much, to you all, for stopping by!  Oh!  And please drop by again, tomorrow, for more Pile It On creations; and have a wonderful, Memorial Day weekend!
