Welcome to Sketches In Thyme's June Open Challenge!
Keep in mind that all through the month of June you're playing for a $20 gift certificate to The Paper Trail.  Somebody's going to have fun spending that money!
Oh!  And remember that Open Challenge week means you can link up any new creation you've made, using any sketch.  Try out a sketch from a favorite blog or create your own.  As long as you use a sketch, you can enter the challenge.  So, I decided to use PageMaps' Best Creations Sketch Challenge, for my layout, this week...
and came up with this.
I started this layout by adhering strips of patterned papers, the bottom of which was punched, as well a strip of punched cork, haphazardly, near the horizontal center of the scalloped, notebook, patterned, paper base.  I then machine stitched, with bright-blue-threaded, straight stitches, across the lengths of their straight edges and in a small, circular pattern, near the bottom right corner, to highlight my favorite picture of the bunch.  After adhering pictures, I tucked a bit of red, apple, lace cardstock under the grouping's top right corner and a strip of aqua, ruler, patterned paper under the bottom two photographs and dressed up the top right photograph with a punched, text, patterned paper, photo corner.
The "PrEsCHool DayS" title was created from alpha stickers...
and the trio, above the photos, from a red, scalloped, label sticker, upon which I journaled the May 6, 2008 date in Basic Black ink; an aqua, "Remember", dictionary die-cut; and a vintage, pattern flower, embellished with a Baker's Twine bow.
Finally, I die-cut lots of pennants from a variety of pattern papers; adhered them, across the bottom of the layout, with dimensionals; and embellished, at their ends and the point at which they arch in different directions, with Baker's Twine bows.
Further inspiration for this layout came from ColourQ's Challenge #90.
Now, it's your turn!  You have until the close of the day, on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, to link up your takes on Challenge #49, Challenge #50, and/or this week's Open Challenge, to be eligible for the fabulous, prize package and/or to be named one of our elite Top Three.  So, off you run to thumbing through those photographs (You know you've got about a hundred to choose from :)!), picking out your papers and embellishments, and creating a masterpiece.  Oh!  But before you do, please stop by the challenge link above to see what the rest of the Sketchy Mavens have been up to.  And thanks, as always, for peeking in!
