CASE Study #48

Tuesday, July 19, 2011

Good morning!  We've got a day filled with activity, but before we're off running, I first wanted to bring you all a little something I made.
I started this card by stamping the gardenia image, in Jet Black ink, on a piece of kraft, graph, patterned paper; coloring it in with Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, and Bordering Blue inks and a blender pen; adhering it to a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock; and machine stitching, with black-threaded, straight stitches, around its edges.
I then trimmed it, across its bottom edge, with a strip of Crumb Cake cardstock, upon which I stamped, in Jet Black ink, the "just because..." sentiment...
flanked the sentiment panel the length of its top edge with ivory lace and its bottom edge with a punched strip of black, text, polka dot, patterned paper; and machine stitched, with black-threaded, straight stitches, to either side of the connection, between the punched strip and the sentiment panel, before wrapping a length of black, satin ribbon, around the prepped piece, just below the ivory lace; tying it, in a bow, just right of center; and embellishing it with a wood button, laced with hemp twine bows, as well as a sprig of black beads and tulle.
The entire prepped piece was then adhered to the Basic Black, cardstock, card face, with foam tape, to complete the look.
My inspiration for this card came from this monochromatic creation by CASE Study's July Muse, Dawn Woleslagle, for Challenge #48.
Now, I'd better run get some water on my gardens to help them through this heat wave we're having.  Oh!  And don't forget that you have until 11:59 pm EST tonight to link up your entries, for Challenge #90, over at The Play Date Cafe.  Can't wait to see what ya'll have been up to!  Thanks, as always, for peeking in!  And have a terrific Tuesday!

You have really put your own stamp on this inspired design, pardon the pun! That was actually unintentional!! :) I really like that you stayed with the muted colour scheme too-I struggled with that!
Thank you so much for your kind words on my blog, they are much appreciated :)

This is awesome Jinny...so clean, crisp and well put together! The neutral colors are incredibly complimentary and the design flows perfectly! Love the lace peeking out from the black ribbon, it really draws the eye! No wonder this was a CASE Study favorite!
