MOJO198 & OTWC #56

Monday, July 4, 2011

Happy 4th of July!  We have plans to go to a fireworks show, tonight, as long as my littlest is feeling up to it (She's been a bit under the weather lately.); but today, well, it's a lot of doing the same things that we normally do on Mondays... changing sheets, laundry, making meals, beating the heat, and my hubby is working hard on expanding our patio, but not before he and Ezekiel did a little fishing this morning.  And while they were away, us girls snuck up to my craft space to play; and I made this pretty, little, celebratory number.
I started this card by piecing the apple and star, patterned papers to a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and machine stitching, with navy-threaded, straight stitches, around their edges and, with navy-threaded, zig-zag stitches, between their connections.
I then adhered two, hand-cut, patterned, paper ribbons, vertically and slightly overlapping, near the right edge of the prepped piece and wrapped a length of red, gingham ribbon, around it, just below horizontal center, before adhering a template-cut, from Very Vanilla cardstock, "4" and machine stitching, with navy-threaded, straight stitches, around its edges.  The entire, prepped piece was then adhered to the Riding Hood Red, cardstock, card face, before tying the ribbon into a bow and embellishing it with a Pure Poppy button, laced with hemp twine bows.
A red, bandanna, sticker "TH"...
and a stamped, in Night of Navy ink, on Very Vanilla cardstock, glittered, and hand-cut star...
complete the look.
My inspiration for this card came from Mojo Monday's Week 198, which I tipped 90 degrees to the left...
and Off the Wall Craftiness' Challenge #56.
Thanks so much for stopping by!  May all of you who live in the USA have a fantastic holiday!  And to you all that live elsewhere and abroad, have a wonderful start to your work weeks!  Thanks again!  Hugs!
