Welcome to The Play Date Cafe's Challenge #89!
Our sponsor for this week is The Craft's Meow...
who graciously blessed each of us designers with some uber fun stamp sets.  Thank you so, so much, The Craft's Meow!  I received Sending You Sunshine and, along with that subtle, mint, buttercream, and taupe color story above, created this.
I started this card by stamping the main image, twice, in Jet Black ink, on Whisper White cardstock, one of which had been distressed with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks.  I then colored that image, as well as portions of the second image, with Barely Banana, Crumb Cake, and Sage Shadow inks and a blender pen; hand cut out the colored portions from the second image and secured them with foam tape over the main image; adhered the completed image to a piece of mint, patterned paper; and machine stitched, around its edges, with light-yellow-threaded, straight stitches.
A piece of quilted, patterned paper, also, had its edges machine stitched around, with light-yellow-threaded, straight stitches, before being adhered to the Crumb Cake, cardstock, card face.
I then wrapped a length of So Saffron ribbon, horizontally, around the center of the card face; adhered the prepped image from above, over it, with foam tape; tied a separate, So Saffron bow; and adhered it to the left of the stamped image.
A couple of mini clothespins mimic the colored image and complete the look.
I made this card for our Guest Designer for this week, Nicky Hsu.  She had a sweet, baby boy, named Channing, on June 17th, and I wanted to congratulate her a little more personally than just through an email.  If you've never made a stop by this girl's blog, now would be the time to do it!  She has such a sweet, layered, CAS style that will keep you coming back for more time and time again.  So good to have you, Nicky, and congratulations!

Oh!  And before you run, please be sure to use the challenge link above to check out what fabulous prize you're playing for this week, as well as to see what the rest of the crew has been up to with a little The Craft's Meow.  Then, get those creations linked up by 11:59 pm EST next Tuesday, July 12, 2011.  Can't wait to see what you all come up with!  Thanks so much for peeking in, ya'll!  Have a terrific Thursday!

OMG, you're a queen of layers - and not one of them unnecessary in the overall design. This is a card I would never attempt to do but can truly appreciate the craftsmanship and artistry involved.

Good stuff.

cheers,
