Welcome to The Play Date Cafe's Challenge #90!
Our sponsor for this week is Our Craft Lounge...
who generously donated a stamp set to each of us designers.  Thank you, Our Craft Lounge!  I received Circus, Circus, and along with the eggplant, fuchsia, and orangesicle color story above, which just so happens to be two of my son's favorite colors, created this ensemble for his birthday.
Let's start with the invitation.  Shall we?
I started this card by dry embossing a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock with the squares pattern; machine stitching, with ivory-threaded, straight stitches, around its edges, as well as the edges of a Cricut-cut, from Orchid Opulence cardstock, "8", which was adhered in the center of the embossed piece, before it was adhered to the Elegant Eggplant, cardstock, card face.
I then stamped the lion image, in Jet Black ink, twice on an orange, star, patterned paper and once on an orange, lattice, patterned paper, as well as once in the bottom right corner of the previously prepped piece; hand cut out each desired portion; pieced it together, with foam tape between each layer, beginning with the orange, star, patterned, paper body and ending with the orange, star, patterned, paper face; and adhered it, with more foam tape, just to the bottom left of the stitched and Cricut-cut "8".
A little glitter and a stamped, in Elegant Eggplant ink, on a hand-cut, Very Vanilla, cardstock banner, "You're Invited" sentiment, which was anchored to a black, pearl, stick pin and, in turn, to the tail of the lion, and fastened with little, Lilac, twine bows...
complete the look.
I started his birthday card...
by trimming the left edge of a piece of orange, star, patterned paper with a punched strip of Very Vanilla cardstock, as well as a strip of black, polka dot, patterned paper; framed it with a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock; and machine stitched, with ivory-threaded, straight stitches, around the edges of the completed, patterned, paper piece and, with ivory-threaded, zig-zag stitches, between the orange, star, patterned paper and the punched cardstock, before adhering the prepped piece to the Orchid Opulence, cardstock, card face.
I then stamped the partial, "BIRTHDAY" sentiment, in Elegant Eggplant ink, on die-cut, Very Vanilla, cardstock pennants; adhered them, in their respective locations, draped across the top of the card face, with foam tape; and embellished their points of attachment with Lilac, twine bows.
The elephant was stamped, in Jet Black ink, on Very Vanilla cardstock; colored in with Orchid Opulence ink and a blender pen; hand cut out; and adhered, with foam tape, in the bottom right corner of the card face.
A completed, stamped, in Elegant Eggplant ink, on a hand-cut, Very Vanilla, cardstock banner, "Boy" sentiment, which was also attached to another, black, pearl, stick pin and, in turn, placed in the elephant's trunk, make this card ready for the birthday boy.
Finally, I created a bunch of these 3" x 3" cuties to send, along with Ezekiel's new, 8-year-old pictures, to all the special people who blessed my big kiddo with gifts.
I started them by trimming the right edge of a piece of Perfect Plum cardstock with a punched strip of black, polka dot, patterned paper; and machine stitching, with ivory-threaded, straight stitches, around three of the Perfect Plum cardstock's edges and, with ivory-threaded, zig-zag stitches, between the cardstock and punched strip, before adhering it to the Pumpkin Pie, cardstock, card face.
I then stamped the giraffe, in Jet Black ink, on a piece of orange, lattice, patterned paper, as well as on the Perfect Plum cardstock; hand cut it out; and adhered the body with foam tape and the other parts straight to the card face.
A little glitter; colored, in Basic Black ink, hooves; and the stamped, in Jet Black ink, vertically, just to the left of the giraffe, "thanks" sentiment, complete the look.
Now, it's your turn.  You have until 11:59 pm EST, on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, to link up your entries over at the challenge link above.  Please be sure to also use that link to check out what you're playing for this week, to see what the rest of the Design Team has created with their given stamp sets, and to help us welcome this week's Guest Designer, Kendra Wietstock.  This girl does amazing things with cute images and bold, vibrant, happy colors!  Plus, she has been an absolute doll to work with during this entire spotlight/sponsorship!  Thank you, Kendra!  It's so good to have you!  Thanks so much for stopping by, ya'll!  Have a fabulous day!
