Wplus9 July Release Sneak Peek: Day 3

Friday, July 8, 2011

You made it!  We're into Day 3 of Wplus9 Design's July Release sneak peeks and still going strong!  Today we're showing off the last stamp set in the release, Defining Words.  Oh, and ya'll, this is one of those sets that you won't possibly be able to put down!  Check it out!
I started this card by piecing together the pink, heart, and red, ledger, patterned papers; trimming them, down their right edge, with a punched strip of red, decorative, patterned paper; machine stitching, with pink-threaded, straight stitches, around three of their edges and, with pink-threaded, zig-zag stitches, between the papers and their punched edge; and distressed the edges of everything with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks.
I then adhered a length of pink, velvet ribbon, horizontally, just to the front of the prepped piece, between the two, patterned, paper connections.  A Whisper White, cardstock die-cut, with the brand new, Label Layers 2 die, was distressed with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks; stamped, in Real Red ink, with the scrolled images from Filigreed Frames; adhered in the center of the card face, just below horizontal center; and embellished with a template-cut and distressed, with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks, red, leafy, patterned, paper heart, which was anchored with pink-threaded, straight, machine stitches.  The entire prepped piece was then adhered to the Crumb Cake, cardstock, card face, which the ribbon was, then, completely wrapped around and anchored to, before the "friend - amigo, buddy, chum, compadre, confidant, mate, musketeer, pal, you" sentiment was stamped, in Real Red ink, on a hand-cut, Whisper White, cardstock banner; distressed with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks; adhered to an ivory, heart, trinket pin, near the left edge of the stitched, patterned, paper heart; and tied off, at each point around the stick pin, with Baker's Twine bows.  Deep breath.  Did you get all that?!  LOL!
A cork "U" finishes the "{heart} U friend" sentiment...
and combined with a pink, velvet, ribbon bow...
completes the look.
Color inspiration for this card came from Create For Fun's Color Challenge #33.
And just for fun, how about one more creation, using a combination of Defining Words and the Vintage Envelope die, as well as an oldie but a goodie, Sweet Nothings?  This one was made for my hubby.  He and I celebrated our 10th anniversary on Wednesday.  If you're interested in how we chose to remember our day, you can check it out here.  So, anyway, here's his card.
I started this card by trimming the left side of a piece of stripe, patterned paper with a punched strip of red, polka dot, patterned paper and machine stitching, with white-threaded, zig-zag stitches, between the two and, with white-threaded, straight stitches, around the remaining edges of the stripe, patterned paper, before adhering it to the Night of Navy, cardstock, card face.
I then stamped the "love" text, three times, in Night of Navy ink, on a piece of Whisper White cardstock, separating between each stamped strip with a row of stamped, in Real Red ink, hearts; framed the stamped piece with Barely Banana cardstock; machine stitched around its edges, with white-threaded, straight stitches; and adhered it, to the card face, in the top center of the stripe, patterned paper.  An envelope was then die-cut, from vellum, using the Vintage Envelope die; adhered shut; filled with a bunch of red, confetti hearts; tied up with a length of Baker's Twine, which was tied in a bow, through a red button, at the point at which the flap meets the envelope...
stapled with the stamped, in Real Red ink, on Whisper White cardstock, "i love you" sentiment; and adhered, slightly at an angle, in the bottom left corner of the card face.
A punched red, ledger, patterned, paper, photo corner, adhered to the bottom left corner of the envelope completes the look.
Further inspiration for this card came from Chupa's Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #18.
Thanks, as always and again and again, for stopping by!  Now, off you run to the rest of the Design Team's blogs to check out their inspiration, before you're off to have a fabulous Saturday!  Then, I hope to see you all back here, tomorrow, for our Group Post.  Oh!  And don't forget to leave a comment, over at the design blog, during each day of the release, for your chance to win some of these July Release fabulosities!
