Welcome to Sketches in Thyme's Challenge #54!
Our sponsor for this month is Technique Junkie.
So, let's just get right to it!  Here's what that sketch, from our very own, talented Maven Karin, inspired me to create.
I started this page by adhering a large piece of linen, patterned paper to the grid, patterned, paper base and machine stitching, with ivory-threaded, zig-zag stitches, around its edges.  I then adhered a bunch of 2-1/2", patterned, paper squares in and overlapping its bottom edge and machine stitched, with ivory-threaded, straight stitches, around their edges.  A large, machine-stitched, with more, ivory-threaded, straight stitches, circle preps the page for my picture, which was matted with Very Vanilla cardstock and adhered in the bottom center of the stitched circle.  My journaling card was stamped, in Brocade Blue ink, on a Very Vanilla, cardstock die-cut; distressed with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks; tucked under the left edge of my picture; and journaled upon, in Basic Black ink, with the words, It's always such a sweet occasion to get a visit from Grandpa and Grandma for no other reason than to love on you.
A blue, 10.18.09, date tab, anchored with ivory-threaded, straight stitches and dressed up with a trio of color-coordinating buttons, laced with white string, preps my page for title work.
The "so Thankful 4 you/be grateful 4 you" sentiment was created from blue, glitter and brown alphas; soft yellow, chip letters; and a hand-cut, "be grateful." die-cut, which was laced to the chip "o" with blue Baker's Twine.
In the top right corner of the layout, a leftover strip of blue, flourish, patterned paper, which was anchored with ivory-threaded, zig-zag stitches; snippet of vintage, florist's lace; mini clothespin; distressed, with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks, white tag, which was further dressed up with the brown, chip heart; and blue button, laced with white string, round out the design.
Further inspiration for this layout came from Color Combos Galore's Inspiration Board #204.
Please be sure to stop by the challenge link above to check out what the rest of this crazy-talented team has created just for you all.  Then, you have until Wednesday, August 31, 2011 to link up your entries over in the right-hand column of the Sketches in Thyme Blog.  Can't wait to be inspired by you all!  Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a fabulous day!
