Welcome to Sketches in Thyme's August Open Challenge!
Remember that Open Challenge week means you can link up any new creation you've made, using any sketch.  Try out a sketch from a favorite blog or create your own.  As long as you use a sketch, you can enter the challenge.  I chose Pencil Lines' Sketch 246.
And here's what it inspired me to create.
I started this layout by adhering the vertical, patterned papers to the notebook, patterned, paper base and machine stitching around their edges with both white-threaded, straight and zig-zag stitches.
I then trimmed the bottom of piece of orange, floral, patterned paper with a torn strip of Pacific Point cardstock; adhered it, horizontally, across the bottom of the previous pieces; and machine stitched, with white-threaded, straight stitches, once, across its bottom edge and, twice, across its top edge, before tying their ends, in knots, to the front of the layout.
After adhering pictures, I dressed up their bottom right corner with a yellow, polka dot, journaling card; a stamped, in Pacific Point ink, on a Whisper White die-cut, frame; a die-cut, from Old Olive cardstock, branch; a stamped, in Pumpkin Pie ink, flower, which had also been hand cut out; a hand-cut, from patterned paper, flower, whose center was embellished with an orange button, laced with white string; and a leftover, from these Christmas gifts last year, white, fire sprinkler deflector.
A few stamped, in Old Olive ink, on Whisper White cardstock, and hand-cut leaves; a little distressing over everything, with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks, for dimension; and a typewriter set, "JOURNEY" sticker, which was backed with white cardstock and adhered, in place, with foam tape, rounds out the ensemble.
My "journey" title was created from olive, glitter Thickers.
The banner was created by punching 1-3/8" circles from a blue, distressed, patterned paper; slicing them in half; adhering them draped across the tops of my photographs; and connecting them with white string, tied off, in knots, to either end.
An Oct. 24, 2009, mini label...
and my journaling, which reads, These are a couple of my most favorite pictures of you.  They capture exactly who you are... precious, dreamy, loving, sweet, innocent, and full of life and joy.  I want so much for you to stay just that way, but already you have been dealt your fair share of failures and disappointments.  Remember that no matter what happens or what tough decisions you may face, life is a "journey" full of ups and downs, but the Lord will always be your Guide.  "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."  Jeremiah 29:11.  You can always count on Him!  I love you so much!, completes the look.
Further inspiration for this layout came from ColourQ's Challenge #99.
and my August, Jenni Bowlin kit, which you have seen a few, little peeks of, on earlier projects, but here it is in its entirety.
