Embellish Paint/Mist Color Trends Challenge & DS20

Tuesday, September 27, 2011

I'm still off adventuring with my family, but I wanted to quick pop in here and bring you another, scheduled creation.
I started this card by spritzing a piece of Whisper White cardstock, through a star template, with Key Lime Glimmer Mist.  I then rotated the star template slightly and spritzed again, before adhering it to the Night of Navy, cardstock, card face; machine stitching, with white-threaded, straight stitches, around its edges; tying the ends of the threads off, to the front of the prepped piece, at all four corners; and adhering it to the Crumb Cake, cardstock, card face.  I then stamped the "Happy Birthday" sentiment, in Basic Black ink, near its bottom right corner.
A strip of navy, polka dot, patterned paper was trimmed, across its top edge, with strips of punched, Whisper White and Glorious Green cardstock and, across its bottom edge, with another, punched strip of Glorious Green cardstock and a length of white lace.  I then machine stitched a double row of white-threaded, straight stitches just below the top, trimmed edge, before adhering it, over all previous layers, just above the stamped sentiment.
I then wrapped a length of Basic Grey, taffeta ribbon, vertically, around the card face, just left of center; tied it, in a bow, near the bottom of the navy, polka dot, patterned paper; and embellished it with a wood, veneer button, layered below a felt, star button, both of which were laced with a double, hemp twine bow.  Finally, I stamped the airplane image, in Jet Black ink, on cut circle of Whisper White cardstock; colored it in with Glorious Green, Basic Grey, Baja Breeze, & Night of Navy inks and a blender pen; distressed it with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks; framed it with a cut circle of Night of Navy cardstock; and adhered it, with foam tape, just above the embellished bow.
A little distressing, with Ivory White, acrylic paint, to the edges of the card face itself, completes the look.
Inspiration for this card came from Embellish's Paint or Mist Color Trends Challenge...
and Deconstructed's Sketch 20.
Don't forget that you have until the close of today EST to link up your takes on The Play Date Cafe's Challenge #100.  Then, I hope to see you all back here, late tomorrow, for another, new color story to try your hand at.  Until then, have a terrific Tuesday!
