MFW: Fabulous Felt Challenge & ColourQ #100

Friday, September 2, 2011

It's been in the triple digit temps again here in Kansas City, and I'm thinking that this pretty, little, fall card just wasn't enough, alone, to encourage the cooler, fall weather to arrive.  So, how about another?
I started this card by cutting, piecing, and machine stitching, with white-threaded, straight stitches, in a block pattern, beginning around the outside and working my way in, two pieces of eggplant and burgundy colored felt and adhering it to the Crumb Cake, cardstock, card face.
I then dressed it up with half a white, paper doily and a length of white, seam binding ribbon, tied in a dressy bow and embellished with an orange button, laced with hemp twine, as well as a stamped, in Elegant Eggplant ink, with the "celebrate TODAY" sentiment and distressed, with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks, white tag.
The leaf images were stamped, in both Barely Banana and Pumpkin Pie inks, on Whisper White cardstock; hand cut out; glittered; and adhered, slightly bent at the edges, in their respective locations...
to complete the look.
Inspiration for this card came from the Fabulous Felt Challenge in the Moxie Fab World and ColourQ's Challenge #100, to create a project based upon this sketch from Clean & Simple Stamping...
using any past, favorite, ColourQ combo.  I picked Challenge #2.
On a family note, we took the kiddos to Family Science Night: Water Wonders at the Kansas City Zoo last night.  They got to visit interactive stations all focused on water wonders, including amazing bubbles and a fireproof balloon demonstration.  They also learned what kind of water can conduct electricity...
that water doesn't commingle with oil...
as well as how to clean up an oil spill and, of course, why it's so vital to not let said such happen in the first place...
the importance of trees in the erosion process...
and they even made edible aquifers.
Obviously, much of this was over Adina's head, but the whole trip was worth it to her to get to make a water cycle bracelet.  LOL!  Oh!  And the fact that you can see down my shirt, in the below photograph, is exactly why I usually have the camera.  Ha!
Thanks so much for stopping by!  Oh!  And please be sure to stop on by Dawn's Blog for Day 2 of the Wplus9 Design September Release.  To those of you who live in the United States, have a fantastic, holiday weekend!  And to those of you who do not, well, get out there and act like you've got three days to play :)!  Hugs!
