PDCC101 - Paper & Such

Wednesday, September 28, 2011

Welcome to The Play Date Cafe's Challenge #101!
Our fabulous sponsor for this week is Paper and Such, so please be sure to stop by and check out what they have to offer.
So, I used that wine, smudge, leather, and parchment color story above to create a haphazard layout of my cuties just being themselves.  Check it out!
I started this layout by machine stitching, with brown-threaded, straight stitches, a big circle, right in the center of the ivory, text, patterned, paper, base page, to serve as my connector between the photographs and stamping, in Night of Navy ink, several, faded, label images.  I  then adhered several strips of patterned papers, as well as a punched strip of Very Vanilla cardstock and navy, polka dot, patterned paper, near the bottom of the circle and machine stitched, with more, brown-threaded, straight stitches, several of the papers, just to anchor them and add more texture.  The punched strip of navy, polka dot, patterned paper was then carried to both the top and bottom edges of my layout and, again, were anchored with brown-threaded, straight stitches.
After adhering my photographs, I embellished the top right one with a "NOTES:" journaling card, upon which I wrote, in Chocolate Chip ink, Just being silly singing and dancing around the apple tree; a striped, photo tab, which served as the perfect place to write my October 25, 2010 date; and a wood bobbin, laced with hemp twine and decked out with a "SUCH A LOVELY DAY" sticker.
A "home sweet home" brad and wine-colored button, laced with hemp twine...
prep the page for my "There's nothing like a day at home sweet home" title, which was created from leather-colored, mini alphas and a navy, adhesive transfer and completed with a smaller, wood bobbin, laced with hemp twine.
A length of hemp twine, tucked under the edges of the longest, patterned, paper strip; anchored, at either end, with staples; and tied, in a bow, just right of center and a "home" sticker, anchored with a couple of staples, as well as a little glitter for my stamped images, complete the look.
Now, it's your turn, ya'll!  You have until the close of the day EST, on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, to link up your takes at the challenge link above.  Please also use that link to check out what the other designers have been up to, as well as to find out what you're playing for this week.  Thanks, as always, for stopping by, and have a terrific rest of your week!

More Jinny Newlin goodness! I like your haphazard design; it really works for the pix, showing movement, echoing that of the kids' movements.
