Wplus9 September Release: Day 1

Sunday, September 4, 2011

So, we're changing things up a bit, this month, due to a delay with the manufacturers and having an extended release over at the Wplus9 Design Blog.  We've got four, all-new, stamp sets, including Class Act, Design Basics: Classroom Backgrounds, A Pocketful, and A Pocketful: Halloween, along with a coordinating, A Pocketful die, for you all, this month.  Be sure to check out their Full Reveal, as well as four days, beginning here, of fabulous projects, created by Dawn herself, on the design blog.  For today, I'm thrilled to share a layout, boasting the use of the first two from that fantastic list above.  Check it out!
I started this layout by adhering a punched, down its left side, strip of red, polka dot, patterned paper down the center of the yellow, grid, patterned, paper base; trimmed it, down its right side, with a strip of ruler, patterned paper, anchored with a few staples...
and tucked my journaling strip, which was created with a strip of punched, down its left side, Very Vanilla cardstock, under its left edge.  My created journaling card was also distressed with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks and stamped, in Baja Breeze ink, with the notebook lines from Design Basics: Classroom Backgrounds.  Once the lines were stamped, I went over the top, horizontal and far left, vertical lines with a Ruby Red Stampin' Write marker and journaled, in Basic Black ink, This was a really tough year for us.  You had a difficult time finding a balance with me being both Mommy and Teacher and battled being diligent with your seatwork.  In the end, you came out on top with fantastic grades, a top-notch knowledge of your study work, and a love for cursive writing.
I then stamped the apple, from From the Kitchen Of, in Real Red, Chocolate Chip, and Garden Green inks, on a strip of Crumb Cake cardstock; adhered it, horizontally, below my stamped, journaling card and over all previously positioned pieces; machine stitched, with brown-threaded, straight stitches, the lengths of its top and bottom edges; and glittered the apples.
After adhering my photographs, which each had a strategic corner rounded to keep the eye moving throughout the design, I stamped both the numbered lines and "Name:/Age:" edge images, from Class Act, as well as the "CLASS Schedule" image, from Design Basics: Classroom Backgrounds, in Chocolate Chip inks, on a piece of Baja Breeze cardstock, which was also distressed with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks and filled in with my son's 1st grade, class schedule.
It was then adhered, at an angle, just to the left of my bottom picture and dressed up with a cluster of a distressed, with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks, journaling card; a chip pencil; a paper clip; and a stamped, in White ink, on Chocolate Chip cardstock, "NOTES" box, from Design Basics: Classroom Backgrounds, which was filled in with the stamped, in Baja Breeze and Ruby Red ink, on Very Vanilla cardstock, and ink distressed, elementary, notebook lines from the same set.  The "Don't Forget" subtitle, from Class Act, was stamped in Chocolate Chip ink and adhered, with foam tape, in its center; before it was wrapped, near its right edge, with a length of brown Baker's Twine, tied in a bow.
The top pictures were labeled with the stamped, in White ink, on Crumb Cake cardstock, tab from Class Act, which was hand cut out; marked with the May 14, '10 date; anchored with messy, brown-threaded, straight, machine stitches; and dressed up with a yellow, glittered, chip star.
A "DATE:" rubon, which is followed by the Sept. 22, '09 date...
and a "1st grade" title, which was created from brown letters and mini, chalkboard alphas and anchored with more, messy, brown-threaded, straight, machine stitches, complete the look.
Color inspiration for this layout came from The Color Room's Palette #74: {His Room}.
That's all for today, ya'll; but I hope you'll join me, tomorrow, for the reveal of a little project I made using both these stamp sets once again.  I'm telling you, the possibilities with them are enumerable, and I've barely even tapped into the images they contain.  Thanks so much for stopping by, and remember that all the September Release goodies are on sale TODAY in the Wplus9 Design Online Store.
