PDCC104 - 2nd Anniversary

Wednesday, October 19, 2011

You read that right!  Today is The Play Date Cafe's two-year anniversary, and I cannot tell you how honored I am to get to be a part of this talented team right in the thick of it all!  We're celebrating with not only a terrific Challenge #104...
but also with a trio of sponsors, including Layers of Color...
Sweet Stamp Shop...
and The Twinery, which means that there's more prizes to go around this week, ya'll!  Woohoo!  So, please be sure to stop by the challenge link above to check out what you're playing for, and come join in the fun!
Now, how about a little inspiration, especially for you scrappers, to go along with that gorgeous, mauve, egg yolk, and artichoke color story above?
I started this layout by using a butterfly template to paint the butterflies, onto my Crumb Cake, cardstock, base page, in Lemonade, Purple Lilac, and Green Tea, acrylic paints.  I then used my template again to trace around each butterfly's edges with a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker, before glittering their edges and adhering my photographs near the top left corner of the layout.
The bottom of my pictures was dressed up with a few, color-coordinating, hand-cut, layered pendants...
some of which were adhered with foam tape, and one of which was replaced with an "I will never forget..." label.
Another yet was wrapped with a length of white, seam binding ribbon, tied in a bow and embellished with the partial, "PROMISE" title, which was hand cut from a word strip sticker; backed with scrap cardstock; wrapped around a pearl, heart, trinket pin; and adhered, in place, with foam tape.
The rest of my "To wATch OvEr YOU" title was backed by part of an old coat tag and created from black, mini, chalkboard alphas, which were anchored with mauve-threaded, messy, machine stitches, whose ends were tied off to the front of the page, and hardcover Thickers.
A little journaling, in Basic Black ink, which reads, Ezekiel was so worried about you and always chasing after you now that you were a girl on the move and climbing all over the place, as well as a double-stitched, mauve-threaded, straight-stitch frame, which runs around the entire layout, complete the look.
Further inspiration for the design of this layout came from the page at the bottom of this post by Doris Sander, as well as The Studio's October 16th Challenge to create an altered background for your layout.

Okay, ya'll!  Get to it :)!  You have until the close of the day EST, next Tuesday, October 25, 2011, to link up your takes over at the challenge link above.  Please also be sure to run on over to check out what the rest of the girls have been up to with Jax's fabulous color story, and thanks so much for stopping by and helping us celebrate two, wonderful years of glorious, color inspiration!
