Note: If you've come here looking for my PDCC104 - 2nd Anniversary post, please scroll down.

It's that time again!  Time for Sketches in Thyme's October Open Challenge!
Remember that Open Challenge week means you can link up any new creation you've made, using any sketch.  Try out a sketch from a favorite blog, or create your own.  As long as you use a sketch, you can enter the challenge.  I chose the sketch from PageMaps' Studio Purge Sketch Contest...
and here's what it inspired me to create.
I started this layout by piecing a few, scrumptious, My Friend Birdie, patterned papers to the bottom of a piece of yellow text, patterned paper; adhered it in the top center of a piece of embossed and sanded, yellow cardstock; tucked a distressed, with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks, and stamped down its right side, in Tea Dye ink, with the "thankful" text, "POSTCARD" tag under their bottom, left edge; and machine stitched around the patterned papers' outside edges with brown-threaded, straight stitches.  After adhering my photographs, I dressed up their bottom edge with a row of color-coordinating buttons, including wood veneer and chipboard ones, as well as a cream doily flower topped with yet another button and a leaf trinket pin tucked behind another, all laced together with hemp twine.
The large leaf image was stamped, in Chocolate Chip ink, on Very Vanilla cardstock; distressed with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks; hand cut out; and adhered, partially tucked under my row of buttons, with foam tape at the tips.
A "Le Bouton" die-cut was then tucked under my stamped leaf and overlapping the prepped postcard and used to journal, You just wanted to help so badly, after Adina was born, that you didn't even mind that all she did was chew on her bottle, because she just wasn't used to it.  You're such a great big brother.  April 2009.
A "lucky" sticker, anchored with a couple of staples...
and a couple of hand-cut, from the sides of that brown, weave, patterned paper, brackets, prep the page for my "so glad you're my little SIS" title, which was created from a stamped, in Bashful Blue ink, on a hand-cut and ink distressed, Very Vanilla, cardstock tag, phrase; light blue, glitter alphas; and hardcover Thickers, all attached to a white, paper doily, adhered with foam tape and embellished with another prepped, in the same way as above, leaf image, as well as a mini clothespin, dressed up with a green, button blossom, laced with hemp twine, and a couple of hemp twine bows.
Further inspiration for this layout came from Embellish's Buttons Color Trends Challenge...
and this fantastically thoughtful array of older and gently used, Nikki Sivils papers that my sweet and crafty, blog friend, Julie Tucker-Wolek, sent me, to play with, for no particular reason at all.
Julie designs for Nikki Sivils and needs to work with the current lines.  Plus, she says that she's not good at making cards, which 6" x 6" papers are ideal for creating, but check out this beauty that came in my package.  Isn't it the cutest?!  I totally think she's wrong!  Thanks so much, girl!  You're the absolute BEST, and I cannot wait to play some more!  HUGE hugs!
Now, it's your turn!  Let's see which sketch you've got up your sleeves!  You have until Tuesday, October 31, 2011, to link up your takes, on this week's Open Challenge and/or Challenge #57 or Challenge #58, over in the right-hand column of the Sketches in Thyme Blog.  Can't wait to see what you all have been up to!  Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a truly amazing Thursday!
