CARDS Thanksgiving Challenge

Monday, November 28, 2011

Good afternoon!  So, I'm back, as promised, in my previous Weekend Snapshots post, with one, final, Thanksgiving creation for 2011.
I started this card by edging the bottom of a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, which had its top corners rounded, with a length of pleated, cranberry, damask, patterned paper and trimming the space between them with a strip of Cherry Cobbler cardstock, anchored, across its top and bottom edges, with ivory-threaded, straight stitches.
The "Happy Thanksgiving" sentiment was then stamped, in Chocolate Chip ink, just above it and to the right edge of the prepped piece.
I then wrapped a length of sheer, brown, polka dot ribbon over that cardstock strip; tied it, in a bow, near the left edge of the piece; and embellished it with a green button, laced with brown Baker's Twine, as well as two, stamped, in Pumpkin Pie ink, on Very Vanilla cardstock, hand cut, and glittered leaves, before adhering it, with foam tape, to the Old Olive, cardstock, card face, which also had its top corners rounded.  A crystal flourish completes the look.
Inspiration for this card came from CARDS' Thanksgiving Cards Challenge, where I'm proud to say it was featured on Thanksgiving Thursday (Thanks ever so much, Paige!), as well as by this creation I made, just over a year ago now, to congratulate my sister-in-law and new brother-in-law on their engagement.  And speaking of, they paid us a little visit the day after Thanksgiving.  We didn't do much other that talk, play games, and enjoy good food, but I believe it's the simple moments that build relationships.
Oh!  And Johan's birthday was yesterday; so we had to celebrate early, just a little, ya know ;).
I'll be back with his birthday card tomorrow.  So, please be sure to pop back in and check it out.  Then, I've got a sweet, little line-up of creations, boasting Wplus9 Design's December Release, coming your way beginning late Wednesday night.  Woohoo!  Until then, thanks so much for being so kind as to stop by my little corner of the web, and have a marvelous Monday!
