PS Feb. SPARKS Challenge & DYSU #59

Tuesday, February 21, 2012

Good morning!  I'm just popping in here real quick, while my littlest is busy playing with her dolls and my biggest is finishing up his writing assignment, to share a fun, little, card creation I made.
I started this card by trimming a piece of multi-colored, stripe, patterned paper, which had its top right corner rounded, near its bottom edge, with a strip of green, polka dot, patterned paper; anchoring that strip, across its top and bottom edges, with black-threaded, straight, machine stitches...
dressing up the entire piece's top left side with a portion of a vintage, journaling card;  wrapping a length of green, seam binding ribbon, vertically, around its center; and adhering it to the Crumb Cake, cardstock, card face, which had been ink distressed with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks and stamped, in Basic Black ink, with the "Peas, Love, Happiness" sentiment.
I then tied that green, seam binding ribbon, in a bow, near the top edge of the card face and embellished it with a pink button, laced with a couple of hemp twine bows.
The pink felt piece had a heart die-cut from its center and was given a decorative edge with pinking sheers, before being backed with a black, gingham, patterned paper, which had been stamped once, in Jet Black ink, with the peapod image to be sure to keep that little curl at the top; machine stitched around with black-threaded, zig-zag stitches; and adhered, with foam tape, just below the embellished bow.  I then stamped the peapod image again, in Jet Black ink, on a piece of Whisper White cardstock; water colored it with Wild Wasabi ink; hand cut it out; glittered just the pod itself; and adhered it, with more foam tape, just to the bottom left of the prepped, felt piece, before finishing the whole thing off with a cream, doily flower, anchored with a vintage brad.
Inspiration for this card came from Paper Smooches' February SPARKS Challenge...
and Do You Stack Up's Challenge #59: Layers.
Thanks so much for peeking in, ya'll!  Please don't forget that you have until the close of tonight EST to link up your takes on The Play Date Cafe's Challenge #119.  Then, I'll be back first thing tomorrow morning with some big news and a little inspiration to share and, again, tomorrow night with a brand new, springlike, color story from The Play Date Cafe.  Until then, happy stamping, and be blessed!
