Papercraft Star 89: Spring

Wednesday, March 21, 2012

It's so good to have ya'll back visiting for Papercraft Star's Challenge 89: Spring!
Remember that the photo is there to use as further inspiration, if you so choose.  The spring theme made me think of my gardens and planting, which is what inspired the card I have, for you all, today.
I started this card by piecing the patterned papers onto a piece of computer paper; ink distressing, with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks, around their edges and between their connections; framing the entire piece with a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock; machine stitching, with green-threaded, zig-zag stitches around the patterned papers' edges and between their connections; and adhering the prepped piece to the Pink Pirouette, cardstock, card face.
I then wrapped the card face, vertically, with a length of green, twill ribbon; tied it, in a bow, near the top edge of the card face; flanked its left edge with a length of ivory lace; and embellished it with a couple of hemp twine bows; coral, resin flower; green, leaf, trinket pin; and a stamped, in Lucky Limeade and Coral Calypso inks, on an ink distressed, die cut, from Very Vanilla cardstock, tag, "celebrate SPRING" sentiment.
The seed packet was stamped, in Basic Black ink, on a die cut, from Very Vanilla cardstock, envelope, which had been distressed with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks; filled in with the stamped, in Basic Black ink, flowers, "HOPE SEED CO." emblem, "MIXED SEEDS" label, and "10 cent" price; water colored in Coral Calypso, Pretty in Pink, and Lucky Limeade inks; highlighted with those same inks and a blender pen; and adhered, with foam tape, tucked under the embellished bow.  I then proceeded to cover all that detailing up with glitter (LOL!), but you all know how much I adore glitter!  And in real life, the color pulls through much better than in the pics.
Color inspiration for this card came from Color Combos Galore's Inspiration Board #220.
Now, it's your turn!  You have until next Monday, March 26, 2012, at 6:00 am EST, to link up your takes over at the challenge link above, in order to be in the running to win free digital downloads from our permanent sponsor, The House Across the Bay.

I LOVE how you always manage to make your cards so laundry fresh - that is a real talent. I always grub all over mine, and then call them "distressed." lol Another gorgeous project...
