Happy Friday, ya'll!  After a week of rain, rain, and more rain, the sun is finally beginning to peek through the clouds this afternoon.  Woohoo!  We've even been watching the birds eat at our feeder and sip from the bird bath in our backyard.  I LOVE springtime!  We're supposed to have a beautiful weekend, before the rain hits us, again, early next week.  So, I'm thinking we need to get the grass mowed; but other than that and a little, birthday party for one of Adina's friends, it looks to be a low-key and uneventful one for us.  Anyway, I wanted to quick pop in here, today, to share a fun, little, country, springtime creation, that was somewhat inspired by our recent bird-watching adventures, with you all.
I started this card by rounding the right-side corners of a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and stamping the "Some Birdie Loves You" sentiment in Basic Black ink.
I then pieced the hand-cut, patterned, paper pennants, one of which was stamped, in Riding Hood Red ink, on Very Vanilla cardstock, with the gingham pattern, onto the sentiment panel and machine-stitched, with black-threaded, zig-zag stitches, between each of their connections.  Of course, everything received a healthy dose of Tea Dye and Antique Linen Distress Inks before being fastened down.  I'm hopelessly addicted, ya'll!
A couple of pieces of woodgrain, patterned paper then had their corners rounded before being anchored, in the bottom left corner of the card face, over the pennants, with black-threaded, straight stitches.  The entire, prepped piece was adhered to the Crumb Cake, cardstock, card face, before it was wrapped with a length of hemp twine and embellished with a die cut, from Riding Hood Red cardstock, doily; floral, chipboard button; couple of hemp twine bows; aqua, paper blossom; die cut, from Wild Wasabi cardstock, and stamped, in Wild Wasabi ink, leafy branch; and finally, a die cut, from aqua, patterned paper, bird, which had been dressed up with a little glitter, as well as a pearl eye.
Inspiration for this card came from The Shabby Tea Room's Week #106: Pennant Party...
and Card Positioning System's Sketch #257.
We had a little visit from my parents earlier this week.  It's funny how one of the reasons we moved back to Kansas, from Colorado, was to be able to see and spend time with and know the ins and outs and ups and downs of the lives of our family members, not to mention so that my kiddos would get to grow up having relationships with them all, and we see them less now.  Sigh.  Why is everybody always so busy?  Anyway, I snapped this sweet pic of my kiddos, relishing in the attention of my Mom.  Thanks for taking the time to come see us, Dad and Mom!  We love you both so much!
Oh!  And a super, fabulous package of Wplus9 Design April/May Release goodies arrived, in my mailbox, this week.  Eeek!  So, ya'll know what else I'll be working on, in my downtime, this weekend ;)!  Can't wait to share!  Thanks for stopping by, and have a spectacular weekend!  Hugs!
