Diana's Anniversary Sketch & CTD189

Monday, April 30, 2012

Good morning!  I trust you all had wonderful weekends!  It was rainy and cool here but made for the perfect weather for resting and crafting.
I started this layout by stamping the notebook images, in Pool Party ink, beginning near the bottom right of the aqua, textured, cardstock, base page, which I had distressed with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks.  I then adhered a couple of patterned papers, horizontally, again near the bottom right of the base page, over the previously stamped images and anchored them, with red-threaded, straight stitches, along the lengths of their top and bottom edges.
I then tucked a 6" square, cloud screen print overhanging the right side of the patterned papers, before anchoring punched, from Night of Navy cardstock, photo corners, with aqua-threaded, straight stitches, along the bottom of the layout and ending them, in the bottom right corner, with a "Love this place", cardstock, sticker subtitle.
After matting my photographs with Whisper White cardstock, I adhered them in their respective locations and tucked an aqua, circle, cardstock sticker, as well as an April 22, 2010, multicolored, date tab, which was anchored with a staple, under their right side...
and a ruler tag, which was anchored with more staples and used to journal, What a joy it is to see you understanding that being a part of a family also means being part of a team, under their left side.
A trio of ink distressed, Whisper White, cardstock strips, upon which I journaled, in Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, So Saffron, Night of Navy, and Calypso Coral inks, Our home is clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy, were adhered, with foam tape, under the photographs' bottom edges.
I then created the "A helping hand" title from a cardstock sticker and navy alphas and anchored it, with messy, aqua-threaded, machine stitches, tied off, to the front of the layout, at either end of the words.
A trio of punched, from Whisper White cardstock, and ink distressed clouds, one of which was dressed up with a red, heart button, laced with hemp twine, complete the look.
Inspiration for this layout came from Diana's 3rd Year Blog Anniversary Sketch Challenge...
and Color Throwdown's Challenge #189.
That's all, for today, folks!  If I can sneak in a little extra crafty time today, I'll be able to share a finished layout tomorrow.  Wednesday will bring a duo of new challenges from Papercraft Star and The Play Date Cafe.  Then, I'm absolutely thrilled to share a number of new creations, that can be found in the April issue of CARDS Magazine, with you all!  Plus, I've got a busy week of creating to do, as my Market Street Stamps May Market Fresh Kit has arrived.  Woohoo!  Y'all are going to LOVE it so!  Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a fantastic week!
