Market Fresh Apr. Kit Sneak Peek: Day 1

Friday, April 6, 2012

I'm so, stinkin' excited to be here showing off a gorgeous, new, Market Street Stamps Market Fresh Kit, Vintage Spring Market!  I've totally garnished the girly side of this one, but there is so much more that this kit has to offer.  So, please be sure to pop into both Brenda Weaver's and Stephanie Washburn's blogs, too.  With that said, wanna see what's in store for your creative spaces this month?
I started this layout by adhering the green, design, patterned paper, across the middle of the layout, stretching across both the red, polka dot, and circle, patterned papers and machine stitching, with brown-threaded, straight stitches, around its edges.  I then hand cut the floral, patterned paper into a scalloped circle, using a paper from my stash as a template; adhered it, too, stretching across both pages; and gave it the same machine-stitched treatment as above, before turning my attention to the left side of the design.
As soon as I read the beautiful poem this side of my layout boasts, I knew that it had to become a part of my design.  It was computer-generated, printed on Whisper White cardstock, and reads...

God made the world with its towering trees,
majestic mountains and restless seas,
then paused and said, "It needs one more thing."
Someone to laugh and dance and sing,
to walk in the woods and gather flowers,
to commune with nature in quiet hours.

So God made little girls
with laughing eyes and bounding curls,
with joyful hearts, and beautiful smiles,
enchanting ways and feminine wiles.
And when He'd completed the task He'd begun,
he was pleased and proud of the job He'd done.
For the world when seen through a little girl's eyes
greatly resembles paradise.

After splitting it in two and adhering it in its respective location, I slipped my photographs into position and created the "god made little girls" title with mini alphas.  And y'all, these alphas come in a heap of colors!  You'll just LOVE 'em!
The flowers were then handmade, by me, from a fabulous ribbon and had their centers dressed up with red, resin flowers, before being flanked with die cut, from Crumb Cake cardstock, and ink distressed branches; hemp twine bows; and a stamped, in Real Red and Pretty in Pink inks, on Whisper White cardstock, hand cut, and glittered butterfly from Believing Butterfly.
After adhering pictures on the right side of the layout...
I dressed their tops with a couple more of those butterflies, prepared in the same way as above.
I then trimmed the far right photograph with a punched strip of Whisper White cardstock and anchored it with one of the ample journaling cards that comes with this month's kit.  It reads, A million words would not be enough to thank God for the precious gift He entrusted to me in you.  June 13, 2009.
A layered, chipboard, "beauty" embellishment and another, handmade flower, created in the same was as above, complete the look.
I've got two more layouts to share, with you all, today; and I'm super excited that the next one boasts the darling, strawberry stamp and coordinating sentiment that comes with Vintage Spring Market.
It was stamped, in Rose Red ink, in connected scallops, across the bottom right of the pink, ledger, base page and topped with three, coordinating, patterned papers, the top of which was punched across its top edge; the largest of which was hand cut into a pennant; and all of which were adhered flush with the right side of the layout, before being anchored with black-threaded, straight and zig-zag stitches.
After adhering my pictures, which were framed with textured, ivory cardstock, I dressed them up, above and below, with lots of hand cut, from floral, patterned paper, flowers and a couple, layered, chipboard flowers, both of which were embellished with pearls leftover from February's Farmhouse Dreamin' Kit.  I then journaled, Just a quick potty break before re-situating and heading back to play, near the top of the design...
and added a stamped, in Jet Black ink, on a red, scalloped label from my stash, "berry sweet", partial title near the bottom.  LOVE that sweet, little stamp and sentiment!  Don't you?  I also threw in a few more of those mini alphas to create the 9.16.10 date.
Finally, I created a little banner, to the left of my photographs, from more of those amazing, layered, chipboard elements and dressed up its outside corners with a couple of hemp twine bows, embellished with pearls, before inking the edges of the base page itself with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks.
Got time for one more?
I started this page by adhering a 10" square, teal, star, patterned paper in the center of the kraft, cardstock, base page and a 4-1/2" square, aqua, stripe, patterned paper in its top center, before machine stitching, with ivory-threaded, zig-zag stitches, around both of their edges.  I then hand cut a trio of pennants from woodgrain, and yellow, floral, patterned papers, as well as the yummy, green ribbon again, and adhered them, vertically, near the left edge of the smaller, patterned, paper square.
They were then flanked, to either side, with an ivory, crochet doily, which was cut in half.  After adhering my framed, with textured, ivory cardstock, photograph, in the center of the aqua, stripe, patterned paper, I dressed up the top doily with an aqua, paper blossom, leftover from January's Love Birds Kit, as well as a die cut, from Lucky Limeade cardstock, and ink distressed branch and a couple of hemp twine bows.
The bottom doily received the same die cut and hemp twine treatment as the top and was used as a right side frame for my "Heirloom Memories" journaling spot, which I pulled again from February's Farmhouse Dreamin' Kit and used to journal, You bring so much life and joy to our family and always know just how to make us laugh.
The right side of my photograph was dressed with a stamped, in Pool Party ink, hand cut, ink distressed, textured, ivory, cardstock pennant, as well as a hand cut, from a frame, patterned paper, label, which was used to etch my October 7, 2010 date.
Finally, I used all those lovely, mini alphas to create the same, "all dressed up with no place to go" title, but in different colors, at each corner of my design.
That's all, for today, folks!  Don't forget to stop by those fabulous, designer, blog links above, as well as the Market Street Stamps Blog for all the details and information regarding your kit club membership.  Oh!  And don't forget to join in the fresh conversation over, in the Market Fresh Kits Group, in the Neighborhood, too.
Then, we'll all be back, at the same time and place, MONDAY night, with a fabulous lineup of card creations, boasting more from Vintage Spring Market.  Thanks for stopping by, and may you all have a truly blessed Easter weekend!
