Papercraft Star 92: Umbrellas

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

It's that time again!  Time for Papercraft Star's Challenge #92, and this week we're focusing on umbrellas.
Most of the time, when one thinks of umbrellas, rain, galoshes, and the like comes to mind, but I've gone a little different direction this week and highlighted the circus.
I started this card by piecing together the patterned papers with the Blush Blossom cardstock, which had been watermarked with the umbrella images; machine stitching, with brown threaded, straight and zig-zag stitches, around the created piece's edges and between each paper connection; and adhering it to the Crumb Cake, cardstock, card face.
I then added a length of ivory lace just above vertical center and garnished its bottom edge with a peach ribbon, tied, in a bow, near the left edge of the card face.
The trapeze artist silhouette was stamped, in Chocolate Chip ink, in the center of a die cut, from Very Vanilla cardstock, scalloped oval, which had been ink distressed with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks; stamped, in Bashful Blue ink, with the frame; and adhered, with foam tape, just to the right of the bow, in the center of the card face.  The "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" sentiment was stamped, in Jet Black ink, on a die cut, from vellum, banner; pierced, at either end, to allow for the pink, button blossoms to be anchored, in said location, with hemp twine.  I had every intention of tying the the hemp twine off, unseen, to the back of the banner but ended up really liking the look of the ends flaring out from behind.
Further inspiration, for this card, came from Paper Craft's April Gallery Challenge: Silhouettes and Create For Fun's Color Challenge #51.
Now, it's your turn!  You have until next Monday, April 16, 2012, at 6:00 am EST, to link up your takes, over at the challenge link above, in order to be in the running to win digital pages from our permanent sponsor, The House Across the Bay.
Please also use that link to check out what the rest of the team has been up to.  Thanks ever so much for stopping by, and have a wonderful Wednesday, y'all!
