It's that time again!  Time for The Play Date Cafe's Challenge #128!  And it's a beauty!
Some friends of ours have three little girls who all have their birthdays within five weeks of one another.  So, they have one big party, every year, to celebrate.  If you're interested in some of the pictures I took of the actual party, check out my Weekend Snapshots post.  Anyway, I picked up that flaming pink, bright orange, and white color story above to create a trio of cuties just for them.
Let's start with the specifics in the first one, moving from left to right, above.
I started this card by stamping the bottom center of the Melon Mambo, cardstock, card face, in Basic Black ink, with the "Happy Birthday" sentiment.
I then machine stitched, with white-threaded, straight stitches, tied off to the front at either end, the lengths of the top and bottom edges of a strip of orange, lattice, patterned paper, before adhering it, horizontally, just above center, across the card face.  Its center was trimmed with a length of bright pink, gingham ribbon, tied, in a bow, near the left edge of the card face and embellished with an orange button, laced with white string bows.
The Whisper White, cardstock panel was given a bright-pink-threaded, straight, machine, stitch frame; stamped, in Only Orange ink, with the tiered cake and, in Melon Mambo ink, with the leaves; and adhered, with foam tape, to the right of the embellished bow.  A handful of white, sticker flowers complete the look.
The second one, in the trio above, was prepared in the same way...
with the exception of a "Hey Sweetie!" sentiment...
and the cake being dressed with stamped in Melon Mambo ink and glittered frosting and topped with a trio of stamped, in Melon Mambo ink, on Whisper White cardstock and hand cut butterflies, which were layered one on top of the other and embellished with a trio of clear gemstones.
And the third, too, received the same treatment as the first...
with the exception of a stamped "Make a Wish!" sentiment...
and the cake being embellished with stamped in Melon Mambo ink and glittered polka dots and topped with a stamped, in Melon Mambo and Only Orange inks, candle.
We were told just to bring a donation, for the nature center where the party was held, as our birthday gifts; but I couldn't help bringing a little something, for each of the girls, too.  So, I grabbed some sidewalk chalk, bubbles, and pinwheels and paired them with these cute, little, color-coordinating, rose clips.
I used The Purl Bee's Molly's Sketchbook: Rose Barrettes Tutorial to create them, and just pinned them through a couple of slits I cut in the center of a Whisper White, cardstock, die cut frame...
whose front was stamped, in Melon Mambo and Only Orange inks respectively, with the scrolled images and punched near the top.
I then threw in a couple bundles of hair ties, as well as two headbands, for the big girls and a stretchy band for the baby.  That way, their clips could be used as more than just barrettes.
I wrapped and glued, just along its bottom edge, a strip of white felt, to each of the bands, in order to secure the clips.
That's it, for this week, folks!  Can't wait to see what you all whip up!  You never fail to inspire me!  You have until the close of the day EST, next Tuesday, April 24, 2012, to link up your takes over at the challenge link above.  Please also be sure to use that link to check out what the rest of the team has been up to, as well as to find out what you're playing for, this week, from the PDCC's prize vault.
Thanks so much for peeking in, and until next time, happy stamping!  Hugs!
