Wplus9 Apr./May Release: Day 2

Sunday, April 1, 2012

It's Day 2 of Wplus9 Design's April/May Release!  Woohoo!  Today we're showing off Mother's Day Bouquet and Super Star and its coordinating Super Star and Banner Trio dies.  So, let's just dive right in!
I started this card by stamping half of the largest doily image, from yesterday's Damask Doilies, three times, in White ink, across the bottom of the Crumb Cake, cardstock, card face; topping those images with a piece of yellow, gingham, patterned paper, which had been given a black-threaded, straight, machine-stitched frame; and filling the space between them with a length of black, gingham ribbon, tied, in a bow, just right of vertical center.
I then created the faux chipboard frame by Cricut-cutting five of the frames from Whisper White cardstock; adhering them together, stacked one on top of the other; ink distressing their edges with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks; and glittering the resulting, faux chipboard frame.  I used the frame to pencil out an insert from Crumb Cake cardstock and hand cut it out, before stamping it, in White ink, with the large leaf image; in Coral Calypso ink, with the large flower image; in Barely Banana ink, with one of the smaller flower images; in Pool Party ink, with the other small flower image; in Lucky Limeade ink, with the littlest leaf image; and finally, in Basic Black ink, with the "Happy Mother's Day" sentiment, before adhering it to the back of the faux chipboard frame.  All of these images come from the new, Mother's Day Bouquet, stamp set.
The frame was then cut in two, just to the right of the sentiment, and adhered, to the card face, as seen above, before dressing up the right side with a stamped, in Coral Calypso ink, on Whisper White cardstock, and hand cut butterfly, which also received a dash of glitter, and the left side up with a couple of hemp twine bows, as well as an aqua, paper blossom, flanked with two, stamped, in Lucky Limeade ink, on Crumb Cake cardstock, and hand cut leaves.
That makes one down and two more to go.  We've now got a Mother's Day card.  So, how about a Father's Day card?
I started this card with a piece of ink distressed, Crumb Cake cardstock, which had been dry embossed, using that new, Chevron impression plate.  I told y'all that I'm spoiling the release order.  Sigh.  It's just so hard to pick what to use first!  I know y'all get super excited when those new, papercrafty goodies arrive in your mailboxes, too.  So, I hope you can forgive me.
Anyway, I then trimmed it below with a piece of polka dot, patterned paper; machine stitched, with brown-threaded, straight stitches, a double frame around the prepped piece's edges; wrapped it, between the two papers, three times, with a length of hemp twine and tied it, in a bow, just right of vertical center; and adhered it, with foam tape, to the Chocolate Chip, cardstock, card face.
The Super Star ties were die cut, using the new, Super Star die and stamped, in Basic Black ink, with the tie image.  I then stamped the "HAPPY FATHER'S DAY" sentiment, from Super Star, three times, in Jet Black ink, across a die cut, from vellum, using the new, Banner Trio die, before piercing it, between each sentiment, with two brads, which were carried through to two of the ties.  All of the ties were then adhered, with foam tape, in their respective locations, to complete the look.
But one of the reasons that I absolutely adore Super Star is because of it's versatility.  Here's just one more example of what it can do.  This card went to my Dad as a thank you for the beautiful cabinets he made for the bathroom we remodeled last summer.  Yes, we're still getting things just the way we want them and need to paint and stain the cabinets, but they will be the last element to go into the space.  Woohoo!
I started this card by stamping the sunrise image, from Super Star, five times, three bursting to the right and two to the left, but all running into one another, in White ink, down the right side of a piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock.
I then anchored a strip of ledger, patterned paper, down the Chocolate Chip, cardstock piece's left side, with ivory-threaded, straight stitches and filled in the space between the two, prepped sides with two, color-coordinating, patterned papers, before machine stitching, with ivory-threaded, zig-zag stitches, between the connections; wrapping a length of Chocolate Chip ribbon, vertically, near its left edge and tying it in a knot; and adhering it, with foam tape, to the Island Indigo, cardstock, card face.
The tag was ink distressed and stamped, in Basic Black ink, with the partial, "DAD" sentiment from Super Star, before being adhered, with foam tape, just to the bottom right of the ribbon knot and piercing it with a teal, trinket pin.  The completed "SUPER, AMAZING, SPECTACULAR" sentiment was stamped, in Basic Black ink, in a stamped, in Island Indigo ink, frame, on a Very Vanilla, cardstock die cut, which had been ink distressed and resulted from that new, Banner Trio die; before it was adhered, with foam tape, angled above "DAD".  Both the completed sentiment and its frame came from Super Star.
Okay, y'all!  That covers it for today!  I hope that you're loving what you're seeing and that you'll pop by the rest of this uber talented team's blogs to see what they've cooked up, today, just for your viewing pleasure.  Then, please come on back for tomorrow's Day 3 post before the big reveal.  We've still got one more stamp set, another die, and that Chevron impression plate, that you've been seeing so much of over here ;), to share.  Oh!  And don't forget to leave Dawn some love, over at the Wplus9 Design Blog, during each day of the sneaks, for your chance to win some of these fabulous, new goodies!  Thanks for stopping by, and have a terrific week!
