Embellish Bicycles Color Challenge & DYSU #72

Tuesday, May 22, 2012

Good morning!  It looks to be another beautiful day in our neck of the woods!  Unfortunately, Ezekiel came down with a bit of a fever yesterday, so it looks to be a stay-at-home kind of day for us.  Anyway, I wanted to pop in here and quick share a playful, little number, with you all, today.
I started this card by stamping the row of houses, in Jet Black ink, on a piece of Whisper White cardstock, which I had ink distressed with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks; coloring them in with Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, Tempting Turquoise, and Orchard Opulence inks and a blender pen; and masking them off to stamp the trees in Chocolate Chip and Lucky Limeade inks.  The "Riding by to say Hi!" sentiment was stamped, in Basic Black ink, above the trees; before I machine stitched, with purple-threaded, straight stitches, around the prepped piece's edges and glittered the trees.
I then stamped the bike, in Basic Black ink, in the bottom right corner of the scene; paper pieced it with Whisper White cardstock and a yellow, leafy, patterned paper; and added a couple of black pearls to the centers of the wheels.  The basket was stamped, in Jet Black ink, on Whisper White cardstock; colored in with Chocolate Chip, Tempting Turquoise, and Tangerine Tango inks and a blender pen; hand cut out; and adhered, with foam tape, in its respective location.  I had a bike just like this growing up, right down to the little brown basket.
The prepped piece was then trimmed, across its bottom edge, with a length of white lace, whose top was wrapped with an orange, gingham ribbon, which was tied, in a bow, near the left edge of the prepped piece and embellished with a yellow button, laced with a couple of hemp twine bows.
Finally, the completed panel was adhered, with foam tape, to a piece of polka dot, embossed, Tempting Turquoise cardstock, which, in turn, was adhered to the Crumb Cake, cardstock, card face to complete the look.
Inspiration for this card came from Embellish's Bicycles Color Trends Challenge...
and Do You Stack Up?'s Challenge #72: Landscape.
Please don't forget that you have until the close of today EST to link up your takes on The Play Date Cafe's Challenge #132.  Then, I'll be back, first thing tomorrow morning, with a brand new challenge from Papercraft Star.  Until then, thank you so much for peeking in, and have a terrific Tuesday!  Hugs!
